I keep hearing about it so i searched it up and still couldn't really figure out what exactly it is. Ive got a t3i, would it do anything for me? is magic lantern worth it? what would it do?

Its a free program that gives your camera more new features than you can count. I personally only use it for the intervalometer for timelapsing, but thats just the tip of the iceburg. Def get it, great free program

well worth it especially considering its free. Depending on your camera and I'm not sure about the t3i, it gives you RAW capabilities, rack and pull focus via directional buttons, better exposure settings and more frame rate options, I had a t1i, which sucks for video 1080p24 and no manual control over shutter speed or aperture, so magic lantern was a must for me and turned a terrible video camera into a manageable one (although still bad)

If you have to ask those questions, don't get it. That isn't meant as a jab, just you haven't maxed out what you already have.

I had the same question. However I also didn't know that much about my camera at the time too. My advice is learn how to use all of the functions on your camera first and then switch over.

i know how to use the camera to its fullest as it is right now, if thats what you guys mean. ive been shooting in manual exposure and understand iso, shutter speed, aperture, frame rates, raw files and everything like that, like i definatly know how to use it, i just keep reading about magic lantern and never bothered to look into it. just trying to make my shit better so i was wondering if i should get it or not

I use it to make sure I don't over expose in sunlight. It helps so much. Def worth getting. Make sure you install it on all your memory cards though.

If you're shooting video get it for sure. Exposing properly on a DSLR's screen is nearly impossible, as well as focusing at large apertures. Zebras, histograms, and focus peaking are all in Magic Lantern
