Made'ns...one of the sickest skis ever

Just got back from a weekend in Park City and just thought I'd share that Made'ns are definitely one of the sickest skis ever. If anyone has considered picking up a pair, I highly recommend it.

The waist is 108.

Review:

The Made'ns tore up everything. At first I thought I would use them as purely a pow ski, but now, I plan to take them out pretty much anytime, unless the snow is absolutely trash.

They are clearly sick as fuck in pow, but still very agile. I took them in tight trees and super sketchy, tight chutes and had no problems or complaints.

the swing weight is much easier to adjust to than I originally thought. I was spinning them just as if I was on any other pair of sticks.

They are somewhat soft, so at high speeds they aren't quite as stable, but still not problematic. The width of the overall ski helps with stability. I was straightlining mogul fields with ease.

Any other questions...holla.

By the way, this info is based on 189s mounted at +4 with Look freerides.

made'ns = softer than pistols, specifically in the tail, so less stable at high speeds.

i ride pistols too, which are clearly better for all-mountain, but the switch to the made'ns felt quite seamless.

the pistols are easier to carve with on groom as the waist is not as wide, but if you ski wide sticks regularly, the ak's aren't difficult to get used to

So if i was looking into buying a fat ski for days when my scratches are being overwhelmed, and I have never had fatties before, you would probably reccomend a pistol over a made'n ak?

I suppose so. In my opinion, the Pistols are a great ski for anything. I actually prefer Pistols in the park over other park specific skis as I feel the width provides much greater stability, especially when landing switch.

However, I wouldn't rule out the AK's as they are one of the sickest pow skis around, but still capable of being used anywhere.

Well thanks for the review man, it's nice having people who have actually used and owned the differnt skis give solid reviews.I am assuming the aks have the same construction, materials, etc as the pistol? Does jibij demo either model?

^^not exactly sure. i think jibij demos pistols, but i don't know that they have made'n demos. message joshbryant. he'll be able to give you all the info

no doubt, sit back on the couch, pants down, rubber on, set to turn that ass out. Laid the bitch out, then i put it in her mouth, pulled out, nutted on a towel, then passed out.

Maiden's are nice pow skis, but they get worked in crud and bumps if you ask me. I own a pair of seths and like you said they are a better all around ski then the AK Maidens.

When I tried my buddies maidens I noticed that they were significantly softer then my Seths wich are a softer flexing ski. They are really user friendly in deep, open and untracked pow but once it gets cut up I thought they were a little to noodly for me.

I was using the 179's and some of these problems would have gone away if they were longer I think. That shorter length did make them surprisingly quick in the trees, I was surprised how quick for a 108 waist ski.

If I was only going to have one pair of skis I would get the Seths but if I was standing on top of a deep pow field I would want those 189 Maidens.

I got the Made'Ns this year and they are absolutley sick. So much fun everywhere. They are heavy obviously but swing weight is not too bad. I stuck a 540 on them off of a maybe 10-15ft table. i was surprised how much fun they are in the park as well. Trying to stay away from rails on them though, but have done a few and it takes some getting used to with that much ski under foot. Hiking with them is a bitch but worth it when you get to the pow!! These are a super fun ski for sure.
