ok heres the deal im 6' 160 looking at 189 made'n or 188 JP. Will b for pow as well as big mtn stuff like chutes, open areas, bowls,BC, NO park at all, rock drops... And groomers to get to the cafe and to the deep stuff. Which will be better?

Im gonna try demo but there a high chance that it may not be possible.

Cheers.

yeh. same problem. the made'ns are a bit fatter and have a tad more sidecut other than that...

prophets, but from those two id take the made'n aks, they're a little stiffer, and are less jib based, the ANTs would probably be a better choice of armada skis for big mountain.

as do made'ns. Once i know if JP's are as good as made'ns all mtn i think i just get cheapest.

have u guys rode the jps? they are soft, not that soft, and they rip in pretty much any big mountina situation, i asked jp himself adn he told me he used them or his whole seg in war, thaey arte a sick ski for sho

I have 189 Maiden's.. I weigh in at 175 lbs.

They are beastly long, they measure out to 193...and they are pretty soft.

They are my all-mountain ski. I tear up mostly BC (Colorado) and park.

They excel at both...but they are a lot to handle due to their length. Mine are mounted at +5, which I think is perfect, unless they become my dedicated park ski, in which case they'll go +9.5.

I like them a lot. But if I were you, I would just find the cheapest ski. Both skis have their merits.

Josh at Jibij is selling 05/06 Madens for 499 dollars.

i'm in the same situation and i'm going for the jp vs. juliens. i like the fact that the jp has the minimal sidecut and is so damn light. i'm not sure how K2s mounting graph works, but i want to mount it at something similar to +5 on the madens.

i think of the jps as a scaled down version of the ANTs. little shorter, little thinner, and a lot softer. better for us guys that don't weigh 3000 lbs.

the latter, but make sure to measure them both so your line is the same distance from both tails as the 'factory line' on my ANTs was off by nearly 1 cm from one ski to another

I'm no pro...but all of the Armada guys ride the JP's at 89 from tail. Don't go by the mounting points because some batches were slightly off. I ski mine at 89 and I wouldn't change it a bit. They are very close to a perfect ski for BC, cliffs, chutes, trees, deep, etc. They round out a quiver quite nicely.

the latter as in the second choice: 2cm behind the line

when i measure, i measure with the tape straight, not curved to the ski

maidens are light? mabye im just used to my stl's but i think they are really heavy. both are sweet, for powder only i think maidens would be better unless your doing backcountry jumps and stuff then the jp's are better. they both would be just as good in the park probably, and you will want to use them in the park after awhile.

Its lighter than both ar5 and t-hall if I can remember correctly. I was confused for a while, wondering if

there was anything wrong with the jp's that I picked up.

They are wicked light

From talking to people, its not gonna be great for skiing on groomers but it'll do it. I think it'll just be a bit bigger version of park skis that are not that great out side of the park. I'm still gonna rock these in the groomers and hit some jumps in the park, but nothing like flying down with them on groomed runs.

I have the 189 made'ns. They're super fun for park riding, haven't done rails in them, and never will. But in powder they are crazy fun. I thought that 189 would be hard to handle, but the softness saves it. I've pulled out of some stuff alot quicker than I thought possible. They're good times.

im really into jps, but dunno if the sidecut will be shit if i want to ski everything on em. 90% pow and big mtn rest other stuff. They are good big mtn as well as pow a. plus its a little shorter + lighter. armada run short dont they?

Also it'll be shorter because of the higher tip on the tail. Just do it mang, haha I'm telling everybody to get the jp's. My friends gonna pick one up also.

If you have no jib, jump, or spin intentions leave those skis behind. I love my JP vs. Juliens but they are sick for big air and big mountain, get the B4 B-squad, they are so sick, except no twin, so light and hardy, good for a pimp.

The Maidens are a much heavier much damper ski. You can get them for 40% off at sierrasnowboard.com I believe we have one pair left in 189.

cheeers, pretty certian on these. b4 i was concerned that they were only good for pow not big mtn lines ect. Running length is tiny so not worried about length.

From what Ive heard the Madens are a really fat pow ski that will not give you the control that you would be able to get from the JP vs Julien's

Yeah I would either pick ants or jps, if your not gonna do much bc booters, get the ants and if you gonna do some booters and etc, get the jps.

I think there's about 15 people on this site that wouldn't get their ass kicked by that ski. The B-Squad is a serious big mountain ski, it'll buck you straight onto your back if you're not right over them.

I think you're overestimating them a BIT... they're burly, for sure, but not impossible to handle. If you're 190+ lbs they're a good tank.

The regular squads arent even that badass of a ski. The 189s and below are pussy skis compared to the 94s, which are ridiculously burly stiff (like downhill ski stiff). Even at 5'9 160 i can handle the 189s, the 194s are a completely different story though...you gotta be a big boy to ride those like they should be ridden.

still decidin yo. but thinking jp as its light and easier to handel. i'll try it first to see how i like it though. I'd be sold it they had a tad more sidecut but they still sound super snappy and nice to ride. I can get demos as soon as winter starts so im amped.
