Mad Trix in Powder...

I'm spending the week out in Tahoe. I have a pair of Rossi Cobras which I brought out there last year that did fine in powder, and are a softer ski so they are good in bumps...but this year I also have a pair of 03 Mad Trix. I found they are not as good in the moguls cause they are stiffer, but are still fine for them and I can ski moguls fine with them, but I was wondering for anyone who skis a lot of powder and has the Mad Trix...are they a good powder ski? Will they do alright, or should I bring the Rossi's again? Thanks.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.

I have yet to find a big mountain situation where they haven't killed it, so they're fine for me (and I live in BC). Strange that you had trouble in the bumps though. They aren't exactly great in the bumps, but I still find them to be pretty good. I mean if you want perfect mogul skis, buy some dragonslayers or something. Madtrix kill it everywhere, except for jibs, where they're only ''Pretty good''.

^By the way, the only reason I'm not that big on them for jibbing is cause they're a bit heavy.

Yeah man. Thanks a lot for that info, I figured they were gonna be good big mountain skis. They do handle well for me in bumps. I was just saying that my softer rossis were BETTER bump skis, but the mad trix were still very good. And yes, they are a bit heavy for jibbing which makes them a little difficult, but they are still good everywhere. They rip too.

Anyway, thanks a lot. I was just seeing how anyone felt about them in the pow.

yeah, my mad_trix are bullet-proof, they slay it everywhere

I can't believe how solid my mad_trix are when i'm carving are high speeds. They're good in pow but you'll have to use some muscle.

well i haven;t ridden a pair but jon olsson used them for all his BC antics for like 3 years

i wanan buy a pair, how bomb proof would you say this ski is , and iwanan hear fomr some1 who actually breaks their skis not some1 who has never scratched a pair and thne tells me that theyre bomb proof , i want the truth

i have a pair from 2 seasons ago. i skied the hell out of them. i jibbed with them. lots. the top sheet is torn to hell, but other than that, they are fine. the edges are not bent or cracked at all, and i hit tons of rails with them. whereas my troublemakers, that i've had only since december, have multiple cracks and bends in the edges, and the sidewall has some chunks out of it. so, yeah... mad trix are durable. the only reason i retired them was because the bindings broke, and i didn't want to redrill them.

i didn't come here with pants, and i'm not leaving with pants

Yeah I got mine this season. From what I can tell, they are a very durable ski. I have cut up the tops of them a little and taken some chunks off the sides, but I too slide rails with them, tune them and use them for all mountain on the new england ice, and they rip like crazy. I was amazed at how good the ski carves considering they dont appear to be very shaped...very strong ski. The bases can take a beating too.

How's this for impressive: On my old Mad Trix (I have 2 pairs), I WAS TRYING TO WRECK THEM. I wanted to warrantee them, so I was tryin to break something, but I couldn't. Eventually I started just skiing over rocks, on pavement (the sparks fly), rails, boxes, picnic tables by the parking lot, just seeing how much they could take...the damn things refused to break! After a while I gave up, got the edges and the bases tuned, and 40$ later they were good as new. I STILL use them, even after putting them through the worst punishment skis can take (I remounted the bindings backwards for switch riding) and they work great. These skis are fucking indestructible.

yeh dude. The bases are like freakishly strong. The other weekend I ran over a HUGE rock that was loose in the trail. It was so big I almost STOPPED...

I took them off and looked at the bases. Didn't see a scratch.

Haha good luck. You might be able to blunt the edges, but I seriously doubt you can break them without an axe or something. The warrantee is what you'd expect from a mainstream ski company, pretty much the same as everyone else's. But I don't think you'll get the chance to test it out.

holy shit you r the man ... i live in ottawa but i wanan get some cheap i just blew all my money away buying v pros and i broke them in a few weeks so i dont really have much money , i need ot find a pair maybe last years model or 2 years ago or 3?

D.I.

Hard to find last years. They had 'em for 199 cdn at sport chek earlier this year (which pissed me off ause I paid like 400 for mine). But they're all out at all the locations I've been to in the last 2 months (Pretty much every place in Vancouver). Call a few places, maybe somewhere has a couple pairs of 02-03 left. The topsheet scrapes a little easier on those, but theyre still indestructible, they're the ones I did all that shit to.

the official word from a fat ass...

im 6'3 190lbs. I have been skiing for Head for 3 years and i have never broken, bent, or blew apart a single head ski. I dont ski like a pussy either.

Are you really fat? Because 190 isn't that bad a weight if you're 6'3, I'm almost that heavy myself (180)

maybe he a 190 and fat not cut. by the way the mad trix rip it everywhere, by far the best skis ive ever ridden on and their indistructable and im like 6' 180 and break skis normally but not the mad trix.

new look zrs race bindings for sale, din 7-17, $225 US, send me a msg if u want um

they most def do not break, yesterday i was sliding a rail with my old ones, afterwards my friend and i tried to see how high we could throw them up to come crashing back down to my driveway, and really, i dont see any difference in anything, even the tyrolia bindings didnt break

and another thing about people saying they are heavy, i tried using a friends PEs, and they felt like dead weight compared to m-trizix

SSK PRODUCTIONS COMING AGAIN THIS WINTER

Dude check E-bay for the 03 ones. That's where I got mine. There always seems to be a couple pairs on there. I didn't get mine for 150 or anything, but I got them for 250...which is less than half price.

...yeah...I throw MY skis on the drive way ALL the time....

check out Corbetts in Oakwood...thats where i got my set-up from.

Older Model mad_trix and mounted rossi power 100's for 425 CDN.

AFter skiing Line 1260's and going to these, i would never ski a softer ski again unless it was ONLY park, and even then i still like the stiffness more.

Yeah, they are definately a stiff ski, which is very favorable on steeps big mountain stuff. Not the best for park, but I haven't found a problem with it. I must admit though, I think I have successfully done 5 butters on them. Unless, of course, I leaned back just before a knole...but that doesn't really count ;)

this is my first season on my 03's and i beat the piss outta them... jibs, rock drops where i can find em, they take what i give em and do it over and over... as for moguls, i rip thru mogels with mine, i like that they are stiff, nice fast reaction time... i would recommend Mad Trix to anyone
