Mad River???

Yeah dude I have a season pass there and they have continued to progress there park each year.

This year they have made a ton of new features and also have been give some from there sister resort, Big Boulder. They plan on having a nice jump line this year too with probably 3 good sized jumps. I see you are from Michigan so if I were you I would wait until the middle of January or February to come out; the park is usually looking pretty damn good by then.

Its right off Route 33 in Zanesfield, Ohio about 15 minutes outside of Bellefontaine. About an hour outside of Columbus.

Got super high expectations this year......... Cap Park...... gonna be SIIICCKKKK!

Its a pretty fun time! Hopefully they get their new jump line in this year; the test one they put up at the end of last year was a lot of fun. Some of the new rails for their park are going to be pretty sick too so we'll see what they got going on once winter actually hits Ohio

any prior bad impressions of mrm should be forgotten. i too personally thought mrm sucked last year (with the exception of the last couple weeks), but this year looks promising. new jibs (check fb page), new park manager from big boulder (met him, cool guy), and they seem to be commited to building a sick park. give it a chance this year because i fully expect it to be sick

What I don't understand is why every time Mad River is brought up there is always some PNS kid trying to convince everyone that Perfect North is better. Both places are sick. I personally ski at Mad River, therefore I will be biased towards them. All of you Cinci and Indiana kids will be biased towards Perfect North. Yes, Perfect North is sick, and has been for a while. Yes, Mad River has had a bit of a shakey past when it comes to park, but they are working hard every year to make it better. What makes "Mad River < Perfect North" is beyond me. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what this year has to bring,

Where is all this hate derived from? If anything, from the past, it would be MRM skier being envious of PNS. But now I have nothing to complain about, Josh, Brian, and now Al have done a hell of a job reinventing MRM's image. This upcoming season has got me more psyched then ever and cant wait for it to snow. All the rail jams they put on across the state only heightened to next month. Mad River's gone far above then what i'd ever expect to be riding in Central Ohio. Kudos to everyone.

...Laker and Goepper, c'mon I wouldn't expect any hate or bigotry derived from either of you. Your both molding yourselves for the big stage, being the same age as you I can only dream about, don't negatively reflect upon yourselves.

Here's my two cents: Let's STOP the hate, and Pray for SNOW!

real stoked to head down for the freestyle camp over xmas break..hopefully the midwest starts getting some snow!

yes! no one should hate either way. in my opinion mrm's park > pns, but the comminity of skiers at pns is what makes it fun. pns has more fun obsticals, and mrm has a higher quanity of rails.

overall they're about even. i would suggest skiing at mrm cuz we need more skiers. pns has plenty

MRM is getting better every year, there is no doubt about it. It is know for its great snowboarders as PNS is known for its great skiers.
The thing about MRM, and pretty much every other park in lower midwest is that it is never as constant as PNS. Tribe explained this in his earlier post, saying MRM was sick at the end of the year. But PNS is more constant on a yearly level, as well as a year by year level.
This is mainly because of PNS staff. The same group of people (FP32 for those that are new or young) have been making the park at PNS ever since it started and still do it today. There have been no huge management changes over the years and all the dudes involved are a close group of friends that love what they do.
This gives PNS a advantage that the other resorts around the midwest dont have.

All that being said, I dont think MRM will be on the same level as PNS this year. Although I have talked to a couple managers at MRM, and I think with time they will definitely headed in the right direction. MRM also has a completely different vibe than PNS, not that its a bad thing.
I am pumped to hopefully get over there with the crew and get some shots for the new movie also.

Oh and how many people who are saying MRM > PNS or MRM < PNS have actually been to the other place in the last year or so, I'm gonna guess not many.

Well at least you can speak from experience, and not talk blindly about what you are talking about.
In my experiences from last year, PNS is way ahead of MRM, and pretty much anybody in the midwest on the jump making game. The two dudes who mostly make our jumps have been doing it from the start, and both are quite the good jumpers themselves. Haveing your managers throw down helps.
MRM has some cool rails/ boxes and are making mare as everyone knows. PNS is also making new features for this year so we will see you takes the edge their.

mrm has a lot more small mellow jumps than pns though. pns had like that one booter at the botton (besides pfc) and one small one up top of the terrain park. mrm had like 5 for most of the season, 8 at the end. mrm's park has the size advantage

Yea, MRM has way more room. But I would rather take one awesome 45fter, than a couple small mellow jumps. In the end tho, its all preference.
Although the small park size at PNS makes it easier to get laps in. If you ever get the chance to come to PNS during a weekday morning, it might be the funest thing ever. 4ish min laps are where its at.
MRM can have a real nice rail garden tho, since it is so much longer.

Snowtrails is gonna be banger this season son. I read on their website that their park was ranked 4th in the Midwest.

ahha i heard that's why teddy moved to the midwest!!! cuz they still got that isshht up on the website....do they even rank parks in the mw anymore?

I don't have a grudge. But until they show me something reasonably good, I'm still going to consider it a sub par park. And I will stick to perfect north, thanks. We dont' have douchebags like you down there,

dude this was a thread about people talking about which resort they preferred... if you like PNS that's fine, if you dislike mad river that's fine too, but you dont need to hate one some kid that you most likely have never met

I thought skiing was supposed to be fun?!?
Mad Rivers park is mad fun. Perfect norths park is mad fun. Snow Trails park is mad fun. Boston Mills Brandywines park is mad fun.
Its what you make of the park. If you have a negative attitude then no matter where you're skiing its going to suck.
Press play on your ipod and have fun.

so true, everybody should just be happy about the fact that we have multiple hills with good parks in a part of the country that a lot of people dont even kno has skiing at all. as a pass holder to mrm and pns i cant wait to shred both

from what i have read hear kid is coming off like a douche bag not saying he is and also i will stick to PNS until i get video proff of a legit park from mrm

I am with Terman ! Just get this snow thing going. BMBW has backcountry for old farts if it ever snows and the rangers dont tell us to tear down our booters.MRM is supposed to let me ski with my broken bindings this year. PNS has good vibe and tree skiing if only for 4 turns.Anyone try Mount Brighton ? Off the wall local crowd that know how to enjoy what they got.
Happy Turkey day to all.

So i really have no interest in weighing in on this... but a general comment.
We live in the Midwest. We're lucky to even have snow. When it comes right down to it, there is absolutely no reason to be comparing parks. You live near BMBW, i live near PNS, he lives near Paoli. The only time there is even a thought of going to a resort that i don't live near is for a comp. or an off weekend. You aren't going to buy a pass to somewhere you have to drive 2 hours to get to unless it's your only option. I personally don't want any inter-resort hatred, that's stupid. What i do want, is for everyone to travel to events this season. Nearly all of the contests fall on different weekends, so each ski area isn't competing for the same riders, which i think is really awesome.
If you guys wanna come and ride Perfect's parks, and you like them, i'm pumped, i did my job. If you ride MRM and had a blast, then he did his job. If you ride either and didn't have a blast, tell the dude who makes it happen, he might not even know about the problem. It doesn't help anyone to bitch about a park to the whole community, unless something doesn't get done. I'm always open to suggestions, and i'm sure the MRM, BMBW, Snowtrails, and Paoli guys are as well. So tell me about it, and i'll do what i can.
There aren't enough of us, that we need to be hating on each other, we need to be a community. Termin know's what's up.
-END RANT-Tad

Actually I have never been to either place. I just am sick of seeing all these PNS kids hate on MRM all the time. We get your point. I wasn't trying to be a dick.

I think we're all a little bit salty right now with this shitty weather.

I'm just very proud of what we as the park crew are able to put together at Perfects. I wish you guys all the luck in putting together a legit park. Apologies for the douchebag comment.
