I had some quick questions about the features at MRM - Does anyone know about how big the 3 jumps on the 'medium' jum line run? The line that is left of the larger jumps on the left looking up from the bottom. The ones's that start with this hit (want to try the 360 next weekend)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZHyXK-3guM
Also, I was up there sat and wanted to know what the best rail/box feature would be best to try to learn on. I looked around at most of the features, but couldn't find a good one to "get the feel" I didn't right the far left rid up, so I don't know what' up there, so I was wonder if you guys could point me in the right direction.
I would like to get 3's down and get comfortable on rails this season. Hoping to get up there again Sat, so any help you could provide would be great.
Thanks

It says that the smallest jump up there is 10' but I dont think the first jump is that big. I would guess the next 2 are about 15' maybe less. They arent that big but definately big enough to throw 3s. Hell I saw some snowboarder throw a 7 on the first jump on the lower line and landing on top of the flat. Looked weird but still pulled it off. As for boxes/rails, go to the small park far skiers right. Got plenty of shit to try over there. Also the pinic tables arent bad and there are some boxes in the lower park. Just make sure you stay leaning forward and make sure you commit.

Cool. Thanks. I was trying to get a feel for what size jumps they are. Where are the good rails at? You said the beg area on the far right? They moved the picnic table over to make it a tree jib thing now - but I'm looking for something to slide sideways to get the feel.

Nice vid Terman - you're with OFS right? I picked up a copy of Witness two years ago. Very cool.

But yeah, I'd just like to work on getting 3's and rails down clean. Appreciate the help

For rails and boxes, the perfect spot to learn is the starter park. Looking up the mountain, its off of the lift farthest to the left. Its got a few easy boxes to hit, a nice low rail, and a battleship. They're all perfect to learn on. As far as technique, Its all about confidence and stance. I hit my first rail yesterday, and after doing it the first time, it was like riding a bike. Just make sure you pop and get perpendicular w/ the rail, keep your legs shoulder width, and your weight a bit foward and you should be good. I thought it was gonna be hard as hell, but ended up being alot easier then I thought.

For learning the 3's, I didn't really like the hits at the top stretch of the park. I think you'd be better off trying them on one of the jumps on the main line, or going to those 2 random ones towards the middle of the mountain. I know what it's like to just be learning lol, just sack up and go for it.

Sorry, didnt know they moved the picnic table. But if you go to the far left when you are looking at the mountain, there is a park with small features. Plenty of good stuff for you to try to slide over there.

heh. Thanks man. I didn't know they had a any features over on the left. Good to know. I was looking around form some stuff the would be sorta forviing rail/box wise in the main park Sat.

I got 1's down on the first jump on Sat.

So I'm ready to try I and get the 3. It's pretty exciting, can't wait to get up there and juse get more comfortable with everything. Hoping it gets a little colder for the weekend.

i'll be there all day friday and saturday.... i have bright orange pants and a blue coat so if you see me just say whats up... i would deff. give you some tips man... you'll for sure be stickin 3s by the end of the day

I'll look for you. I'm gonna try yo get up there Fri night or Sat depending on the weather. Thanks for the help, looking forward to trying the easier box/rail features and the 3!

Yeah, I have a pass there but not getting out as much as I want. Kinda hard when you are working on an engineering degree and have an internship. Plus its like 45 minutes away and even more with traffic.

Btw, zsmith, I will probably be out there thursday night and saturday. I will be wearing white jacket and black pants and will be on bluehouse mr and would also be happy to help you out.

Appreciate the help. Looks like I'll probably being going up for the late night ski Friday night. Looks like that's gonna be the best time weather wise. I will be on the look out for you guys. It'd be great to get some help and advice from people who know what they're doing.

I've seen all the skiers in that video shredding up there and their so sick! and i learned the 3 on that first jump up top and the second one in the main line and they both were pretty good for learning

I'll be out there tomorrow night for the midnihgt ski and then back again Sat it looks like. I'll keep my eye for Mmessmer and anyone else who'll be out

Well I gave the 3's a shot tonight. But no luck. Seem to have some mental block after I get the first 180. I was going big on the first jump, which they have made a bit bigger, but I'd always stop my rotation after 1 - don't know why. I was getting some big 1's, but not sure how to force myself to spin more. I must have tried it a dozen times.. any advice?

I looked for you Mmessmer, but wasn't able to find you. Where you up there? Saw someone in a white helmet thought might be you, but didn't seem them again to ask -

alright dude the best advice anyone can give you is this... get to your drop in look at the jump... visualize yourself throwing the three and stomping it and then just say "fuck it" drop in, throw it, land it, ride away like a thug

yea man, with threes, or any spin, there are a couple key things to remember. first, when you take off, stay in the front of your boots, centered over your skis. second, is to set the spin from your hips. as you pop, bring your head around, lookin over your shoulder. once you get to 180, keep lookin for the landing. youll get it eventually

Thanks guys. Gonna keep trying it. I need to work on setting the spin in the hips, before I think I was hucking it all in the arms, appreciate all the help.

I normally don't post anything but I just want to give you an update. The upper park has been repaired after all this unfavorable weather and is open. The lower park is being worked on right now and will be open by this afternoon. The upper for the most part is still the same with some changes coming to the park to park area this next week. The lower will have some changes that I'm pretty excited for this afternoon...

I want to thank everybody for all of the positive feedback on NS and its nice to see skiers representing here at MRM!
