Macklemore

He writes music for sober people, it's not surprising he fits in with the rest of hip hop.

And he makes music for kids in high school who are discovering who they are, not people who know what the fuck is up. So yeah you can hate, I went through that phase (DOUG I SEE YOU THOUGH BRUH GOLDEN ERA HIP HOP ALWAYS), but it's really not worth it especially when ryan lewis is one of the better indie hip hop producers out there today. It's unfortunate Macklemore gets all the hype when it's really Ryan behind the dopeness for most of it...

Respect though, the #1 hip hop album on itunes supports gay marriage and is from Seattle, finally bringing our scene into the limelight a bit. Now some doper artists from out here (La, Scribes, The Physics, Kingdom Crumbs) might get a fresh view from the outside.
 
not gonna lie it is getting sorta annoying how every four hours he is commenting on Facebook about being number 1 on itunes, i get that you would be stoked but it is kinda annoying
 
you seem knowledgeable on hiphop, i've been wondering what happened to common market? i know sabzi was the producer for viices, but now both common market and viices are nowhere to be found
 
As far as I know RA scion is off doing his own thing for a bit but man there are a lot of rumors about the blue scholars and Sabzi's move to NYC, which would explain a bit. I couldn't give you a straight answer without bullshitting some of it so...I'll stop here.

He dresses like a fucking thrift shopping hipster douche and his music isn't anything special. This coming from someone with some Northwest pride and roots, I don't like Macklemore at all.
 
I don't necessarily like his music either, but you HAVE to admit that it's swept the nation by storm and that in itself is special.

The dude is taking positive hip hop for the masses into the limelight, you can be a hater or you can roll with it. Hating's bad for your health anyway. He's is by far the best pop rapper out there, and although he doesn't take himself seriously unless he's talking about his addiction and/or "the kids," his flow is unique and ryan lewis is dope with the beats..

He talked to Ryan for me, who then gave me a few production tips after a show. We sat down and peeped his laptop. It was a cool experience to have, proving Macklemore isn't as much of a douche as many people seem to believe. I don't even like his music much, and I have strong northwest pride as well, but I will support what he's speaking for and the general movement...your username used to be Cloud Nice? Macklemore will bring the Cloud Nice crews into national view rather than sitting in the streets of Seattle. The music here doesn't deserve to be locked up like that.
 
yeah saying it wasn't anything special was the wrong choice of words. What I should have said is that it doesn't do anything special for me as a listener rather than it's not anything special as a whole. I still respect his hustle and what he is doing for both Seattle and Hip Hop but it's just not my style.
 
Yea I used to like Him but he's super popular at my school now and EVERYONE listens to it and it can get preeeety old. But some of his songs are pretty good. And yes that fur coat looks gay as shit but I'd wear that thing.
