He writes music for sober people, it's not surprising he fits in with the rest of hip hop.
And he makes music for kids in high school who are discovering who they are, not people who know what the fuck is up. So yeah you can hate, I went through that phase (DOUG I SEE YOU THOUGH BRUH GOLDEN ERA HIP HOP ALWAYS), but it's really not worth it especially when ryan lewis is one of the better indie hip hop producers out there today. It's unfortunate Macklemore gets all the hype when it's really Ryan behind the dopeness for most of it...
Respect though, the #1 hip hop album on itunes supports gay marriage and is from Seattle, finally bringing our scene into the limelight a bit. Now some doper artists from out here (La, Scribes, The Physics, Kingdom Crumbs) might get a fresh view from the outside.
