Macbook vs Macbook Pro

I am getting into photo/video editing and am going to purchase a macbook. I am wondering cuz i am strapped for cash if i should get the regular macbook or the macbook pro 13in with the same processor. what is the advantage to the pro as opposed to the macbook? should i wait til september to see if apple releases a new set of macbooks?

obviously the pro is going to be better, it's pro

but in all seriousness, the aluminum model is a lot more stabel, well built, ect than the plastic one. and it's only like 100 bucks more, it's worth it.

I dunno about new ones coming out, maybe you shoud wait, idk. maybe check a site about release dates?

if your only considering the 13 inch they are both the same performance wise, which is shitty

the 13" macbook pro is just the macbook with backlit keys and no polycarbonate shell

if you want a pro get the 15" or the 17", which have a graphics card and i5 or i7

Apple updated their Macbooks like 2 months ago.
You get a better scratch resistant screen, more memory, a lit keyboard, aluminum casing, better speakers (I think? I know mine sound nice for a laptop, way better than any other I've owned.), an SD card slot and a Firewire port, the options to upgrade to a larger factory hardrive or solid state drive, and it's actually lighter and smaller than the Macbook. For $200 it's probably worth it just for better RAM and a more durable casing.
Also, keep in mind that "I'm getting into photo/video editing" is not synonymous with "I need a Macbook Pro". If you have this little knowledge of computers as it is, you might want to play around for a few months or even take a short class to find what you really want. I own both a PC running Windows and a Macbook Pro. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Play first, spend lots of money later.

yea thats why Im telling him not to get the 13"

in OPs post he says hes considering the 13" MP and 13" MBP

neither have a dedicated card....

I dont see what the confusion is about

The Macbook comes stock with 2 GB of RAM, not the 4 GB that the MBP comes with. Otherwise performance is the same as far as I remember.

whoops I overlooked that, I thought it had 4gb

besides that, I still think that the 13" MBP should not belong in the pro family

the 13" mbp actually does, my roommate has one and it does. This surprised me because on the website it doesn't say it has VRAM memory included, but on the box is says it does. Interesting eh?

You're sure it isn't 256?

My 15 inch Macbook Pro came in today, and I'm extremely stoked about it. It's awesome in every way. I got the 2.66 i7 version, with the high res antiglare screen and it is awesome in every way. Since it's the 2.66, it has a 512mb dedicated graphics card, which does its job well- I played TF2 at native resolution with no hiccups whatsoever, though TF2 is not a great measure of performance these days.

It's awesome.

dang it i got cut off

I know im bumping an old thread but I was just going to say to the OP that if you are doing basic stuff, but still insist on getting a MBP, just stick with the low end models because they will do exactly what you want and do great.
