i want to get a macbook as soon as possible but i got a frew questions for you guys. I want enough space and all that business becuase i do a good amount of photography. also i film, but nothing fancy just basic edits. Is it worth it to get the Pro or could i stay with the regualr version. also, on the apple site i checked the refurbished sectgion and the prices are a lot lower. are these legit? whats the downside to them?

dude, just go with the macbook pro, I have had mine for like three months now, and am soo glad I paid a little extra for the better version. It's faster, nicer, and came with 120GB, which I have only filled half of, with 10k songs and like 20 hours of raw ski footy.

yeah.. there pro is wayy better than the regular but it depends on how bad u need a super good computer over a good one. Pro will do anything u need hands down no problems. macbook wont run the full final cut pro version but does run express which is a scaled down version. If all ur doing is little fun edits and nothing special in terms of photography, u should be good with the macbook but it may be lacking in areas, im not really sure, i do know that the pro will do anything u need it to though, and its a second gen so they fixed a lot of shit and upgraded a few things, like bigger HD too which will probably come in handy for pics... hope that helped

Refurbished means that someone returned it or something like that so they repackaged it and give you a discount. There's nothing wrong with the refurbished Macbooks.

Get the black MacBook and upgrade RAM and hard drive.

Cheaper than the Pro, but faster and more memory than the MacBook.

^you pay an extra 150 bucks for the black version and you pay for is the color black instead of white. Get the better version of the macbook and upgrade the hardrive space. It's been a long time since I bought my macbook (about mid-summer), but when I bought it I looked at it every which way and you pay so much more for the pro and you basically get 2 inches of screen. That is unless you get the best macbook pro, then you get a lot more computer. Go to a mac store and talk it up with the employees there.. that's the best way to do it

^ Nah son, the black one has different base-model specs than the white one. Ch-check it out.

k here's the deal.

According to what you want, you don't need the Macbook Pro. You could get away with the Macbook alone with room to spare. Will you be using Final Cut because if you're just basic editing you can also get by well with iMovie HD (comes with the computer). Space wise, they come with 60 or 80 and I think you can get 100 GB hard drives if you want/plan to store a lot of movies on it.

Also, the refurbished ones are almost always just as good as the new ones. All they are are the computers that people returned for some reason or another (wanted to upgrade, needed the money), and Apple takes them apart, and completely cleans and fixes any problems they have, and then re-assembles them and puts them back on the shelf. It just means they aren't 'brand new' anymore. It all depends if you want the satisfaction that it is still in the box never been opened, or if you really don't mind. It's all up to you though.

Any more questions just pm me.

yeah i got the macbook pro and it's awesome. so fast. i also have final cut express and it's the best i've ever used. if you're not super serious about video you can easily get by with imovie.

photo is definatly my more important thing over video. i would plan to get photoshop CS2. so whats the deal on video though? i can only get a toned down version of FCP4? thats not a big deal, even if tis a real skin and bone editing thing, i could use my home computer, but thats a little slow. also how much are those external storage things and are they worth it?

external hard drives arent that much. u can get a big ass one for like 200. and they are well worth it. i love mine. and i use it with my regular computer not even a laptop. handy for all my music, footage, and pics.

i have the regular macbook and it works fine for everything i do. which is alot. i have an external harddrive to account for the 40gb harddrive mine came with tho

i dont know about your question, but all i can say is i have a 15inch Pro and i adore it. it sure hurt my pocket but it is so ridiculously sick..i can run final cut and a bunch of other programs and still be fine. so i guess what im saying is if you have the funds, snatch up a Pro and you wont regret it

Watsup fatass. I got a regular macbook yesterday cuz i needed to get one for going away to maine. I no nothing about comps or about your comp choice, but i just wanted to tel you. Peace, good luck. Hopefully we can get some film this year.
