im asking for one for christmas.

should i get it? i heard theres some problems with them but i dunno if its worth the "big gift" ya know

and on a side note

post your "BIG GIFT"..

Honestly, if you have this little of an understanding of the MB pro, then I would highly recommend that you DON'T get it. Maybe do your research first? Unless you are BIG into film and photo editing, have thousands of media files etc, then maybe you would legitimately need the pro. Maybe look into the macbook. I got the new 2.0, and it's been honestly working better than my old pro.

Problems? Like what? I have had mine for almost two years, never had had a problem that i haven't caused. And that is a HUGE present, ill be lucky if i get a 400 dollar ipod, let alone a 2500 dollar computer.

Yeah i'd have to say what the guy above me said. Not to be a dick. But you should probably know you want a MBP if you need one. I personally have like 400 gigs of pictures and editing software, so when I upgrade from my Black Macbook that I currently am using I'll get a 17 inch MBP.

I am waiting for the new style of macbook pro 17 inches though, faster etc... So you need to justify the price of it with what you do.

Google macbook v. macbook pro you'll find what you need.

I have a macbook pro, and it is fucking amazing, but you should really gain some knowledge on them first if you are thinking of getting one. I got one because I am in a graphic design program, so figure out what you will all be doing, and you might end up only needing a macbook (or even a PC...pfft).

yeah a mbp is something you buy when you need a mbp, its not something you buy just because you want one and your parents will buy one for you. I got mine for school because i am taking digital media courses that require adobe programs and final cut studio 2. on the topic of problems and such, i have had no issues whatsoever with mine, andi have one of the new aluminum mbps.

That's more sensible, considering you still probably don't even need all of its capabilities.

how about we use the searchbar before we create threads like these. seriously there is a new thread about the macbook pro like every week

ask for it... but thats rediculous if your parents buy you a laptop that starts at $2000...

my parents spent like $700 on me one year because i got straight a's all year

thats the most they spent on either me or my brother for christmas i think

my BIG chirstmas and birthday present was a mt snow classic passyou have intense present-givers in your family

how old are you anyways? i mean like asking your parents for something expensive that you NEED for university or college or whatever is one thing, but asking for something that expensive because you want it is completely different. my parents helped me out paying for my macbookpro, it was partly my birthday present, and grad present, and i had to use scholarship money i got to go towards it, even then i still felt guilty asking for a $2700 computer, and i need it for school.

Oor buy something you can upgrade, and doesn't rip you off.

eg, not a mac.

If you have the money to blow on a nice design, go for it, but it has nothing else going for it.

Seriously the new top-end MacBook is basically a mini-MacBook Pro. They really bumped the specs. The plastic ones they sell now are not as good of a deal as the refurbished, the mid-range (entry level Aluminum ones) are good, but the high-end Aluminum ones are fantastic. Great value. Unless you are doing lots of editing (and then arguably you would go for an older MBP with the Matte screen) stick with the MacBook.

Also, jealous of a wicked present. Recession means Christmas is a little thinner round' these parts.

Dear NS,

I really really want a new laptop for christmas. My parents are meanies and wont buy me one. Can you all like pitch in 1 dollar and buy me a new laptop (Make sure its a mac so I know its expensive). PWEEEEEEEEZE?

Sincerely
