i did a bit of searchbarring but didnt find much but anyways, im looking at buying a mbp at the in a month or two. my mom is a teacher so i was looking at the discount thing when checking out to see what discount i could get.

holy shit run on.

anyways i have an option between 4gb ram or 8gb i dont really know what to choose.

i know that more ram= speedier but thats about all i know. could someone with some knowhow fill me in on this topic more.

i plan on doing regular internet crusing, some amature editing and posibly some photoediting, and other school stuff. since my parents are being stupid i'll problably end up using this for college in 2 years so i want it to still be fast then.(my pc's have slowed in the past. does this happen with a mac?).

im getting the 500gb harddrive option and problably will have some stuff on a external, so i think im good there.

so is the more ram worth the extra money?

pretty much any help is appreciated.

if i forgot something or if you have any opnions as to options i should add on, pm me please

I am guessing that more ram will keep the computer from being obselete because basically 4gb is the standard now some day it will prob be 8gb

it wouldn't matter now. you can always upgrade the ram later... and it would prolly be cheaper if you waited 2 years.

definitely this^, unless your parents are footing the bill in which case maybe go for the 8. Installing ram in an MBP is easy peasy.

From what you sound like you wouldn't ever need it really. Based on what you plan on doing that sounds fine. 8GB would just be pointless unless you are doing more high end processes.

4gb of ram sounds like plenty for what you are trying to do. Like some of the others said you can upgrade later. You shouldn't need more than 4gb of ram unless your really pushing your computer (ie. intensive video editing).

Alright thanks so much guys, you saved me lots of money because i would have gone with the 8 just because I hate to not have things work the way I want.
