soo, i tried to bump a thread about this already, but nobody read my post, they just answered the original posters question haha. this means i already searchbarred and found nothing to answer my question...
im looking at buying a 15' macbook pro. when i go to checkout, there is options to upgrade lots of features. are any of them important, that i definently should upgrade. i don't wanna do them all obv, cuz that would be wayy to expensive, however if there was a couple hundred dollars worth of upgrades that would make my macbook pro significantly better then i would be fine with that. btw, i will be using this mainly for college and also for some occasional video editing and maybe some photoshopping too. but for the most part, this will be a college computer. thanks for the help

what are you going to be doing with it? if its just for like school work, then that will probably be plenty. but for like photo/video editing, you might want to upgrade some stuff

i think that harddrive is all that really matters for software that is out currently. If you want it to last longer i would say upgrade the processor. If you need more memory (RAM) you can do that later and it is very easy. Just hardrive is something i would upgrade too 500gb personally.

like all that i would do on the editing side of things is throwing together a couple edits here and there, and messing around on photoshop some. its not like im gonna take classes based on video editing or whatever. looking at the upgrades though, it seems like the only thing worth upgrading is the harddrive, cuz everything else looks kiinda unnecessary. and, im not spening 900 dollars for more memory haha, if i need it i can buy some external memory. does this sound right? or am i missing something completly

ok thanks for all the help. so basically, i really dont need to touch any of the memory or harddrive upgrades. and then just get microsoft office and maybe the antiglare display and apple care?

I'm pretty sure the new macbook pros come standard now with 4 gigs of ram with the option to upgrade to 8.
I have an old macbook pro with 2 gigs of ram 2.4 GH processor and a 150 gig hard drive at 7200rpm. Works perfectly fine and i do a lot of work with photos and final cut express, never had a problem with things being slow. I obviously have external hard drives to hold everything. As long as its not a huge price jump i would recommend the 500 gig hard drive at 7200.
