Hey guys I was just wondering whenever I use final cut for too long my macbook pro fans come on and stay on until I quit Final Cut is that normal does that happen to you guysMacbook Pro Specs.

2.7GHz Inter Core i7

500 GB SATA Disk

16GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Memory

Running OS X 10.8.2 "Mountain Lion"

Final cut uses a lot of GPU and CPU; both heat up a lot and that warm air needs to get vented out of the MBP. Yes, I guess that's normal

MBP's can't cool themselves down for shit. Fucking thing overheats when I've just got a lot of chrome tabs open.

I use SMC smart fan, an app that allows you to manually boost the fan speed of your MBP. I also use a stand to increase air flow underneath. Seems to work well enough.

Laptops heat pretty fast with editing software like FCP, PP, AFE... During the rendering it's even worse.

Laptop fans are always going to crank when you're putting a big load on them, laptops get hot very easily. Like people said a stand would help but it still gonna crank when you're doing anything other than listening to music. The newer MBPs aren't too bed though, my mbp from 2007 sounded like it was a rocket ship getting ready for takeoff every time I used simple web browsing and word processing. It's normal, it wont hurt your computer unless a fan breaks (unlikely).

Not mine lol. My fans only kick on when rendering which is to be expected. With the design of MBP's with no vents visible anywhere versus other laptops, they seem to cool themselves remarkably well. or at least I was impressed...

other than chromes terrible usage of ram and cpu, its the best web browser. Safari is fine, but I just like how chrome is laid out better. I used firefox now and have a chrome theme on it, its solid.

I just use safari. I honestly don't see why people hate it, and I agree with sheath about chromes shitty use of ram and cpu. it just seemed buggy to me. I used to have firefox with all the plug ins but it would just take forever to open or do anything. Also back at home I have DSL, so I don't think the browser will even matter that much haha
