My sister spilt energy on her macbook and ir stoped working.

And warranty doesnt cover liquid damage. Which sucks. Do any oo you know if there is anything we can do? They said it would be $900 to fix.

Is she screwed out of $1000 because warranty doesnt cover liquid damage?

Ya sucks for her bad stuff always happens to her though.

Haha that might work lol

I dont reall expect companies to cover that but i think she bought the extended waranty and you would think if you paid for extra warranty it would cover it.

i spilled juice on my macbook a few days ago and made a thread on here, got some advice, now its fine. except for these weird/cool little lights in the corner. it looks like a ghost lives in my computer.

That really does blow man.I'd say the best thing you can do is read about ways to fix it yourself. There is really nothing else.

mmmmh, my bet is: get all keys off, get everything that can be screwed loose, screwed loose and everywhere the energy drink was spilled, wipe it clean with a damp cloth or maybe with some cleaning alcohol and let everything dry for as long as possible...in the mean time, pray for your lappie...

take it to the apple store.
i took my ipod and they were like it doesnt work? shitty heres a new one.
seriously, it took five minutes and i wasnt under warranty at all.

Ya so i guess she did take it too the apple store and they told here the motherboard was right under the keyboard and it got fried.

Knowing my sister though she porbably freaked out left the computer on tried to clean it up and then see if the computer was working, so the drink probably went right down into the computer.

see if you were drinking milk chances are none would have spilled out and your faunt would have just gotten bigger

bummer man this happend to me like two years ago but i spilled dr pepper on my computer and it was done son i took it apart and tried to dry it out but it was toast fortantlly i was getting ready to get a new computer anyway but that really sucks for your sister, tell her never to drink and surf it leads to bad things

And the lesson we all learn from this, is: dont be stupid, dont spill liquids of any kind into your thousand dollar macbook.

Ya she probably wont do that again.

pretty sure its a gone. Hopefully she can find a new one for cheap because she is a poor college student.

clame it under homeowners insurance, say it was stolen from your house depending on what your deductable is, renters insurance if shes in an appartment at school and has that, or i bought insurance threw my school for likr 50 bucks covers up to 3 grand maybe 5 grand of theft/fire ect damages,

I spilled a PBR all over my Macbook's screen and keyboard, and it still works just fine.

Every time I've soaked an electronic device in liquid, it has been fixed by immediately popping out the battery and letting it dry overnight. Trying to turn on your computer once its wet is a baaaad idea.

ya im pretty sure she left it on so its probably fried.

i will tell here about the rice thing and see if she wants to do it.

my friend spilled bong water on my macbook, a couple keys click louder than the others but otherwise it works perfectly

It sounds like my sister must have really bad luck cuz your guys' seem to keep working after you spill something and as for now her's is fried. haha

Bag of rice saved my bros phone after he jumped in the pool. Being the impatient little kid he is, pulled it out of the bag way before he should have and then it just died not too long after. Why would you expect any warranty to cover that though? You can buy insurance for it, but extended warranty, just means, it is an extended version of the standard warranty.

Ya true. It just seems like warranty should cover it because it is an investment. And to lose it over some liquid really sucks. But i sill see how the rice works out for her.

Warranty covers manufacturer defects. Insurance covers something caused by you. My friend had insurance for his phone and thank god he did, he went through like 4 blackberries, but insurance had himj covered and replaced his phone for free.

The best thing to of done was unplug it, rip the battery out dry it for a week

Try that take it apart as much as Macintoshly possible and let it dry. When you try and turn it on it burns or fries the damn thing hopefully its just short circuited

Ya she took it to the apple store and they ripped it apart for her and its still like that i told her to put it all in a bag of rice, dont know if she has done it yet.

This reminds me of a cool story I have

So I just got back from the casino, brought home a nacho platter thing with me (like the gas station and football game platters, chips with a side of cheese). Im like, yeah eat my chips n shit, sit down and get back up to grab the chips, im like hmmmm this isnt a smart idea but im not clumsy.

so as soon as I sit down my brother brushed against the platter laying on my keyboard, spilled the cheese all over the keys and the keyboard started FREAKING out. luckily It didnt short the logic board and I turned off the macbook in time. another fortunate thing was that my top casing was cracked, so I took it into the store, and just said WAAAH MY TOP CASING IS CRACKED BOOOOO

so bam, over night brand new top case with new keyboard and trackpad

/cool story hansel

I spilled wine into my keyboard once, and simply took it and put it in distilled water until it was clean, then dried it overnight in an incubator.
Worked just fine for me.

my sister spilt a cup of water on her mac book like the first week she got it but somehow it works great now and theres no damage but that was water

So i asked my sister and she said that when she spilled the drink it shut off by itself immediately. Hasnt been on since.

i told her to do the rice thing and i think she is going to put in it tomorrow.

What you guys think gone or is there a chance?
