Mac Vs PC facts

I think that people are failing to realize that this picture is about a Mac Pro, not a MacBOOK Pro. The Mac Pro is a 12 core processor desktop, not a dual core laptop. Of course it's going to be more expensive.

Read this yesterday then went in look for a replacement computer for my mac (13" pro). Found myself looking at alienware due to there ability to be customized as well and found many of the upgrade prices to be exactly the same as the macs like the extra 2 gb of ram was the same and the prices to upgrade the processor. However when all is said and done the computer i built (with maxed out graphics and processor + other upgrades only came to just under $1900 which is way less than the mac base model and way faster. The only reason i like my mac is the battery-life cant be beat. Overall macs are completely overpriced and underpowered and if you don't think so just research what you get through other companies for a similar price.

I'm on my 2nd Mac after using PCs for years. I know next to nothing about computers—from a tech standpoint—and certainly not enough to engage in some debate about performance and hardware. I will say that I simply prefer OSX to windows.
I seriously can't believe how many of you believe that mac owners are such out of some need to belong, or more accurately, a need to stand out. Anyone that has their computer wrapped up into their identities as people, or purchase computers as a statement about who they are, is fucking pathetic. Really? Everyone with a mac is a hipster douche trendwhore? NS is so "hipster sensitive" it's crazy. If hipsterdom is about being above, too cool for school, in the know, etc., everyone clamoring about mac users are pretty much hipsters.
I've had my current mac book pro for about a year and I've had nothing even resembling as problem with it. The luxury of simply ignoring viruses is worth any price differential as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure some nerd will jump on that statement and say something about mac viruses, but the reality is that I browse and download whatever the fuck I want, and my comp has not suffered in the slightest. When I did that with my PC......holy fuck.

Again, last time I checked a Mac was a Personal Computer as well.
There really is no difference, I own both...my desktop is windows OS and my laptop is a Mac running OS X 10.5.8.
Everything I do on my Mac laptop, I can do on my windows desktop.
The biggest downside to Mac in my opinion, is there is barely any customization at all, what package you see in the store is basically what you get, with maybe a few minor upgrades, but nothing like you can do with building a windows based pc on newegg....

and someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe you can buy the Macintosh operating system by itself, its not like windows where you can walk into best buy and have your option of standard, office, student, home etc....the only way to get it is by buying one of their computers.

Haha pretty much this. The whole Mac=hipster thing is bullshit. I'm about as far from a "hipster" as you can get, and guess what? I have a Macbook Pro. Why did I get it? I'm not some sort of computer geek who wants to put together my own custom machine, I don't need something super powerful to play video games, I like the look of the Mac and the interface on OSX, oh, and we have family friends that work for Apple that got it for me for 25% off. Yay! For what it's worth, I owned Windows PCs for 10-11 years before I got my Mac, and I'll never buy anything but a Mac again. To me, yes, it is THAT much better. Haters gonna hate.

only thing i need to justify my macbook? the trackpad, period. it's completely superior to any trackpad i've ever used on a windows laptop. two finger scroll, three finger back and forward, four finger expose and desktop clear, i use every one of these things in the space of two minutes when i'm on my computer. combined with google chrome, using the internet is as seamless as it can possibly be.

feel free to prove me wrong, if i'm shown a better trackpad i'll admit it, but as far as i've ever seen, nothing comes close.

I really see no point in caring what other people have. Same with ski equipment. That being said, I find Macs nice because of the no viruses. When I had a PC and downloaded movies and music it got so overloaded with viruses and fake virus blockers. I feel nice not having to deal with that in a Mac.

If you build your own computer (which you can easily do for a lot cheaper) the parts are no where close quality wise.
Mac doesn't list what type of ram, hard drive, cd rom drive, power supply or motherboard they use so it is impossible to say that they use the HIGHEST of quality when you have no idea what you are running.
I built my computer, I know for a fact that my shit is high quality. You are just making assumptions.

PC user for life right here, also just got hired to build a $4000 gaming rig.

i'll never use a Mac (or any other Apple product for that matter), but i can live with knowing i have the better option.
