Who here has a external harddrive with their mac? Do you use Time Machine?
I've heard that Mac's don't tend to get viruses as easily as PC's do. I'm looking for a place to store all my videos and back-up my music, but my external harddrive is in use by Time Machine.. So I don't know wether I should risk using my External harddrive for a safety if my mac shit storms, or wether i should use it for more space.

i use time machine. i thought it was pointless until my computer hard drive crashed and i got a new one. i went from a completely new operating system with nothing on it to exactly how my computer was the last time i backed up, everything from desktop wallpaper to chrome bookmarks. it's incredible
 
Doesn't matter. Hard drives die for no reason... not just because of viruses. Get an external and use whatever to back your shit up.

My hard drive just died on me two weeks ago. Macbook was only a year old... Had an external but wasn't backing my shit up regularly. Sucks.
 
I just bought a 2 TB external for like 110 at best buy. Definitely worth it when I got 280/300 gigs filled on my macbook, and yeah hard drives die randomly, so if you have important stuff, or just a massive itunes library, back that shit up!
