Mac or Pc?

i'd like to see some support for those who claim a mac runs windows better than a pc, and no mac vs pc commercials don't count
 
i love how these ha/rd core gamers are so against macs simply because they dont play their games. who the fuck cares? isnt that what xbox and ps3 is for? besides i bet in the near future more and more games are going to come out for macs because of how much better they are to use. no virus protection or any of that shit that slows your PC down. mac all the way
 
Games come out for PCs rather than Macs because 1. More PCs are in the world than Macs 2. PCs support virtually all hardware, while macs support a very small amount of hardware (and no 3rd party motherboards). 3. Most gamers don't run virus programs because they're not idiots. I don't run any virus protection and I'm yet to get a virus.

And games are better on PC than on consoles.
 
yeah cool, macs are just starting to get really popular now, therefore more and more games will come out for the mac. plus, other than gaming and compatability ( even though you can RUN WINDOWS on a mac using boot camp ) mac dominates pc in every other aspect.
 
True that Macs are becoming more popular, but they still only account for about 3% of total computer sales. You're not going to see games for Macs anytime soon, because they just don't have the custom hardware options that PCs offer. And yes, you can run PC on macs with boot camp, why do you think apple created it in the first place?
 
I personally have a macbook pro and PC with a shit load of upgrades. I have had my macbook pro for just over a week or so and I can tell already how much better the operating system is. Everything is logical. no that PC isn't. It really is a personal preference. I love video editing. Nothing can beat a mac and their programs for that. If you love typing essay's in word...A pC is perfect for you, althought microsoft office is available on PC. its up to you my friend
 
if youre looking to play computer games and a computer to just fuck around on then get a PC. if you want one for schoolwork and shit like that get a Mac
 
Dont use the game thing as an arguement. Because any game that you can get for a PC, you can get for a mac with Macsoft and the other assorted game companies. WOW, COD, everything.

PCs are better bang for your buck, you can game on them, upgrade them, everything works on them...

 
hahah thanks evan... pretty sure it was 256 or 512 ram back then... if you wanna talk internal hard drive space you can load one up with 4 tbs.

And you can load up way more than 4TB in computers, unless this is just the Mac Pro you're talking about?

Yes, you can argue that if you aren't an idiot, your PC will run fine. With macs, you don't need to constantly monitor your system just to keep it from crashing. when you are editing video, phots, or music, you don't have time for that shit. Plus, there is no denying that they are cosmetically better. All inputs are on ONE side of the laptop so that you dont have cords on both sides of your laptop holding you down. The power cord is magnetically held on, etc.

Plus the stock programs it comes with are way better. Garageband, iTunes, iMovie, Photobooth; PC's just come with random demo software that requires money or activation and all these steps just to burn a fucking CD.

Yes, you are a complete nerd and like to hack and disect computers, then PCs are better only because they are such peices of shit.

not saying i know much about computers because i really dont know all that much but i know enough to realise what you get for the money you spend on your mac compared to a pc.

i have 2 friends with pretty much brand new imac's and they absolutly hate them. and neither of them are computer people, they just use them for msn, music and browsing the internet and they both really dislike their macs.

i dunno i cant argue with 3/4's of NS and their mac loving asses but i just hope one day people will realise that apple is ripping your wallet a new asshole.

and vista isn't that bad at all if you dont have a shit ass system. no one's gonna agree cause most of you with mac's havent used vista long enough to realise this with a good enough computer, but its not that bad.

macs can run windows.

pcs can run OSX.

you hear mac owners claiming to shit that they can now run windows if they want.. ooo you're special

But in the large scope of things, Macs are pretty sick. I used to hate them with a passion but they've grown on me. The search feature kicks ass and is light years ahead of the Windows search. The invert colours thing is absolutely sick. Other than that they're just harder to fuck up but whatever. For every program that serves a purpose on mac, there are 5 different programs to choose from to do the same job on a PC. I like that. I like having options.
 
i love my PC although i hate vista its really hard to get used to, but im not going to lie, i want a mac so bad i had one like a year back but had to sell it for skis and boots and bindings :( but hey id rather ski than be on the computer anyday

I like macs more in every aspect, more than just trend or color. I like the mac video/photo/music production programs a lot more than the PC ones. I like how the OS is easier to use. I like how when I open safari for the first time, I don't have a google toolbar or some other add-on shit in my window.

Yes, any retard with half a brain can adjust a PC so that it doesn't do all this, but why not just skip a step and buy a computer that doesn't have these problems to begin with?

Plus every single pc laptop I have ever held has cosmetically felt like a clunky peice of shit. the dells are made up of so many parts. I'm using one now and it has never even left the house and cracks are opening up on it and whatnot. Mac laptops are for the most part, big, solid pieces, which don't fall apart.

In the end, PCs can run just as fast and efficiently as Macs can, but I have found that Macs kill PCs out of the box. And isn't that what regular people want? Most pro-Mac responses are from people who don't want to have to fuck with antivirus software or deleting all the random demo software that comes on their computer. they want to open it up, check their email, and take stupid webcam pictures.

If you spend a shitload of money on a souped up editing PC, it most likely will run really well. I don't think anybody is denying that.
 
i'm sorry, but i thought this was a mac or pc thread, where you state what you use and perhaps why you chose it. all of you are arguing about things that most of you know nothing about.

i build computers. i can build a PC for $1800 that will wreck a Mac in everything except how good it looks. it's a simple matter of knowing a little something about computers. You shouldn't be thinking of Mac as the anti-PC. Think of Apple as just another PC company like Dell, and you'll realize there isn't much of a difference between PC and Mac except the operating system. Everything you can buy in a pre-built Mac, you can buy in a pre-built PC. There are pre-built PC companies that will build PC's with the latest and greatest tech in them, and sell it to you for less than it's actually worth. You can buy PC's for upwards of $4000. shocking, i know, but it's true. these are the PC's that perform at the top of their game. the best part is, if you're a die-hard gamer or you simply need a computer that will hack the CIA, you can constantly upgrade your computer, instead of having to buy another one. Everything that is top of the line today, there will be something better than it in less than 4 months.

To the people saying Macs have 8 cores, that is just what Mac tells you, the same way AMD is trying to scare people by saying that they are releasing "true quad-core", which in fact simply has better aesthetics than todays quad-cores.

I have used the latest and greatest Macs, they do not perform above and beyond anything I could build, for a much more fair price as well. I am not saying they are not good computers, but they are not the best. The people here who own Macs and say that the gaming argument doesn't work, you're wrong, it works perfectly, because real gamers need to constantly upgrade their systems to keep up with the revolutionary games that are coming out. The $1800 system i mentioned before plays Crysis, Assassins Creed, World In Conflict, etc., at a higher framerate than a Mac Pro.

What it all comes down to is Macs are nice if you don't need the best, same as Dells are nice if you don't need the best. If you want to hack, you need a PC. If you want to game (and have at least 17fps more than a Mac user), you need a PC. If you want a computer that comes pre-built with programs that are pretty good, and looks good next to your futon or your chihuahua, you want a Mac. If you want a computer that looks better than a Dell, but performs just as well, you need a Mac. If you want a computer that is really great for hackers to enjoy fucking with, you want either a Mac or a PC running Vista. Vista sucks, btw, and people who know shit about PC's run XP instead.

Mac commercials are shit, and rather rude, they hate on Microsoft even though Microsoft builds a lot of the programs that come with a Mac. But I guess if you can virtually sucker-punch your friends in the face on TV, you must be doing well. Oh, and Bill Gates doesn't use Windows. And Steve Jobs doesn't use OS X. because they both suck compared to any Unix-based OS. So just think about that.

I am looking on apple's site right now and the cheapest one is 1900 bucks. yeah thats right, if some of you mac fanboys took apple's dick out of your mouth for a second or two, you'd realize MACS COST CONSIDERABLY MORE MONEY.

oh ok so they cost more but theyre so much better right? my dell latitude has never had any problems whatsoever. oh, but 2 of my roommates spilled literally a few drops of water on their macs, and it completely fried them. but someone spilled a shitload of vodka on my PC and its fine. thats not really a good example of durability since there are many other factors at play, but I'm just saying, your mac is no more durable than my PC.

but mac has all these cool features...who fucking cares? chances are most people will never use them. I love how someone said the macbook is a perfect comp for the average person. well the average person doesn't use any of the software or features that macs are known for. the average person surfs the web, plays some games, and types some papers. also, the average person doesn't have 2k+ to blow on a laptop. so double fail. to your credit, the average person is a dumbass so mac's OS is good for them. I don't need an OS that is easier to use, because I have no problems using windows. I know a lot of people on NS are into video and music editing. if so, then a mac makes sense for you. if not, then get a mac if you want, but its no better than a pc.

on to the next issue: games. I can download any snes, n64 or genesis game for free and play it on my computer with a usb controller. you could do that...oh wait, you'd have to install windows. another ability macboys like to brag about. another ability you'll never use, and only talk about. I love how someone else said xbox 360 and ps3 are for games...you're a fucking idiot. I shouldn't even have to say this, but uhhh were you aware many games aren't released on consoles?

if you're reading this and actually make use of the cool things a mac has, good for you. I'm not bashing you. I'm bashing people like my friends who, like most young people with macs who aren't doing graphic design as a career, buy a mac and proceed to use it for writing papers and surfing the internet. and then insist that macs are the shit. and us PC users are just tired about hearing this shit.

idk where you were seeing that, but a macbook is $1,100. i got mine with taxes, a printer, and applecare for $1,500 i think. maybe a little less.

anyways besides that, i agree with your statement.
 
i know 2 people who both had a problem with their hard drives and both could get the information off the computer but it would cost 700$ to make it work again, oh and the data was partial. if that happened on a pc u could get a new one for like 200 and u dont have to have the genius squad fix it.

people get a new mac and they are like OMG its so much faster then my old pc, well no shit, ur old pc is probably 6 years old, of course the mac is better.
