MAC or PC ?

alright, here's the deal. I have to get a laptop for university. I was wondering what do you guys know about the differences between mac and pc for someone who's mainly going to be doing school work, and also wants somethig that's gonna be fast for videos, music, editing etc... any feedback on different laptops out there ? thanks

 
go with mac...if u get the microsoft office u will be good for papers and stuff and mac is killer for videos and pictures...plus they run better overall

do you know if I can eventually run into some problems even if I have office on a Mac (will there be any problems for compatibility) ? between pc users and me ?

 
a mac is defintely the way to go. For compatiblity what do you mean, networking or sharing programs.

microsoft office can send any files between computers just as long as u are sending it to the same program...ex. mac word doc to a windows computer with word will work fine no problems

PC. i can''t stand how much macs lock up when im doing ridulously undemanding shit on them, im not even talkign about school computers either.

 
get a mac. spend a lot of money on ram for it though. the more and more I use them, the more I find that ram is key to macs. they are good computers, especially for laptops (portability) and especially for the stuff your looking at doing. if you were a hardcore gamer, i might say no to a mac, but if you were a hardcore gamer, you wouldn't want a laptop... and, I get ut 2004 and some other good games running on my mac. they really don't run too bad, considering the difference in hardware between my pcs and my macs. (the macs have much worse videocards, and generally run a bit slower, yet more efficient)

DEFINITELY Mac! They are so much better. They last longer, don't get viruses nearly as easily and look so much more stylish! :)

i have had a mac (ibook-G3) for two years, and now my sister got a mac(ibook-G4).... my dad's a electrical engineer and he says that the way macs are built is a lot more stable than pcs (don't crash). I have never gotten a virus or I haven't noticed anything, plus no pop-ups with Safari (default internet browser). The only problems i find is that I can't download some video files... It's probably because I just don't know how... but I love my mac anyway and it fits all my needs which are writing papers, powerpoint, photos, music, ichat (aim), msn, and entourage (similar to outlook from a pc)

there arent any viruses or spyware for them because it is simply not worth it. not enough people have them to make spyware worth it.

go mac, they're awsome for editing, good for schoolwork (all .doc files are compatable between PC & mac, just format them), and there arnt alot of mac viruses yet

yuck, you'll be known as the pussy from this day on if you do that. Do something manly, like cut her initials into your chest or something.

Mac OS X runs on a unix backend... and linux is a unix clone. There are some differences, but they don't matter. You can pull up the terminal window and fiddle around in unix, if you want.

Get a mac... they make way better laptops. I wouldn't buy a mac desktop, though.

Apple doesnt make good desktops??? What about the Powermac G5 or the iMac G5??? Thats the dumbest thing I have heard in a while.

You should def. get a Mac. OSX Tiger is so much better than Windows! Most PC users just say "get a PC" because they probably havent tried a Mac. If you are getting an iBook, wait for the update which should be soon!

Since you sound like a complete tool, go with a Mac. Personally, I'm getting a PC for university, but all you fags have to unite over SOMETHING right?
