Yesterday my friends were over and they were dickin around and accidently spilled a can of arizona ice tea on my keyboard. As soon as it spilled on my computer it turned off and i fliped it over and wipped it down with a towel and took it apart and blow dried it (cool air). After I let it sit for a while and I turned it on but the screen went on for half a second and the computer just died so its fucked...

I know that apple wont warrenty water damage and the apple care protection plan wont do shit either.

So I know that on the inside there are water indicators that tell you if there has been any liquid inside, like they have in cell phones. So I cant bring it to them saying that it just broke cause theyll tell me there has been water damage and ask me to pay 700$ for repair.

I also know that on ebay they sell those stickers that change color so maybe i can buy them and just take the old stickers off and put the new ones on and then apple will warrenty it.

But now i have no idea where the indicators are inside of the computer and im not sure if this will work.

So my question is, has anyone done this before? Does anyone know where the water indicators are inside the mac? will it work?

Anyone who helps +k

Please helppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im extremly pissed at my friends but i cant make them pay it was an accident and thats a dick move to make them pay. I really need my mac and i will never be able to afford 700$ for repair.

if your friends did it, make them pay. simple as that. if i broke my friends pc i'd feel like a complete douche if i didn't pay to fix it.

i think you made your mistake by taking it apart. I spilt bubble bath (long story) on my macbook and the screen is distorted but it is still fully useable. If i was you i would go to your friends and say something like i really cant afford a new one and i need you guys to pitch in. As for the sticker indacator thing it may work but im sure in some way karma will come back to get you

I dont think taking it apart could have done anything cause I didnt mess around with any of the stuff. But yea i will ask my friends to pitch in but they probably wont cause they think it was me cause they were right next to me and bumped into the can.

I fried my keyboard with water damage and apple care replaced it. i just said it stopped working and they said cool. Id say try apple care first.

Thanks, I guess they didnt check the water indicators. And was it like a newer version of mac book pro? cause they dont have water indicators in the older models like made before 2008 or 2006 idk.

Honestly just send it, you never know, sometimes the applestore is real cool and sometimes they suck.

this. I had an ipod nano a few years ago, and I left it on the counter (less than a week after getting it) in a case, and my dog bit it. Like punctured the aluminum and everything. I didn't even have apple care, but i had the 90 day warranty, so i went online and said the screen didn't work (i neglected to mention why), and they sent me a new ipod no questions asked
