M-Free 108 vs CT 3.0

I am looking for a 108-112 range ski for Whistler, specifically a ski that is playful and easy to maneuver but not to the point where I can't charge hard and blast through chop. I seriously don't know how to pick between these two skis and would love to also obtain new recommendations.

CT 3 is the better ski IMO. If you search it up on YouTube there’s a video showing the layup of the MFree and it’s like 65% PU. Like the core has a strip of wood in it and the rest of PU it’s so stupid. I hate that ski but maybe I’m just stupid, but there’s barely any wood in the thing. CT is the better of the two it’s lighter it’s more stable and it has more energy.

That being said, also peep a Moment Wildcat 108 or ON3P Jeff 110. I know that everyone recommends these but that’s because they truly are some of the best skis going. Both are super fun but also very stable for blasting through chop and crud

The MFree 108 is more tapered and has larger tip/tail splay vs the CT 3.0, so it’s more surfy in soft snow especially on the shorter lengths. The CT 3.0 is a more precise carver that’s very stable but doesn’t require a lot of speed to be fun.

The heavier 21 CT 3.0 would be more similar in weight and feel vs the MFree 108 vs the new lighter builds in 22. The 22 CT 3.0 won’t be a damp but will still rip.

I prefer the heavier 21 CT builds but they are getting difficult to find now.

What’s your size and current ski lengths?

I was dubious of the PU... and then I bought a pair of the 108's. It's the best ~108 ski I've ever been on, and I've skied quite a few pairs of skis.

Op, Dynastar makes some seriously great skis, you can't go wrong with a pair. The 108 is heavy, but it does not feel cumbersome. It's incredibly easy to swing around, it has a very loose, pivot happy shape. When things get chopped up, that ski just wants to blast through, bounce, carve, whatever you want it to do. That PU in the layup makes for one of the smoothest rides.

I skied around 16" of good VT powder on them a week or so ago. As the mountain got skied up, I kept having more and more fun, it's uncanny how great that ski is.

Obviously I can't say enough for the M-Free 108.

I mean to each their own but I just did not find the thing inspiring at all

Yeah, I've been looking into the J110 as well but really don't know much about the ski at all. How would it differ from the two skis I have mentioned/ what makes them so great? I've seen them recommended a lot on here.

I've actually sold my m-free 108 192 now after owning them 1,5? years or so now.

m-free 108 bases are annoyingly slow, no matter what I did I never got them to haul like I wanted, and I always felt they were killing my speed. ofcourse I did more than just waxing, tested different grinds and patters, but just never truelly hauled ass.

They never really held an edge on firmer snow, and I never fully trusted them to be stiff enough to support me.

for me they were a 40-45mph ski max, kinda like the jskis hotshot

I'm 6'3/240 though, so fairly big boy.

CT 3.0 2021 190 on other hand? just damn nice! from turn 1.

m-free is the better tight treeski for going slow, but I have other skis for that
