M&A stoke

The X-Vario is a great cam. It's just that it's like 3k, which is ridiculous. I'm just afraid the DF is going to be way too expensive (2.5k+ is not something I'd be shocked by). We'll see...

you have to pay to play, even at 3k the df will still sell like hot cakes if supplies can keep up and they don't fuck it up some how

...aaaaaand the roll came out blank. Apparently I need to re-learn how to load film - whoops! Luckily I was just shooting a test roll, so no harm in losing those shots. Still quite stoked on the whole process though - it's been nice forcing myself to think about every exposure and whether or not each shot will truly be worth taking (vs. "spray and pray").

4th ad for those who have not seen it, i feel like these are directly targeted at me.

School is making me realize how much modern photography has lost touch with it's past, everyone cares to much about the frame rate a dslr can shoot video at or the noise performance or the flash sync speed. FUCK ALL OF THAT, give me aperture/shutter/iso and let me take a photo, something that is capturing a split second in time, not spending 4 hours setting up for a single staged shot.

I just got my grandpa's OM10 in the mail today. It came with a 50mm 1.8, a Kiron 35-135, a bag, and some cable releases. I am not even sure if it works and I can't get the battery door unscrewed. The viewfinder is very dark too on both lenses at any apeture. And holy crap, it feels so plasticy and cluttered compared to my ME. Oh well, it was free and the lenses give me somewhat of an excuse to buy a OM1 for my school camera.

Yeah, the OM10 is junk. It was released simply to offer something affordable from Olympus since everything else was so well made.

You'll be happy getting a real OM. Such a solid, SLR.

Have to share my stoke on this... My ski edit from Japan won "Best Overall" at Britain's Got Skiers edit competition! I know its only a small competition for British skiers so doesn't rank up internationally but taking home the top spot was pretty cool for me and totally unexpected!

If you haven't seen the edit:

Saw that earlier, a cool £500, nicely done.

Really stood out to me when I first saw it entered nice to see, though no offense, but it wouldn't have been my choice.

Also still overly irritated that BGS could not have chosen a further away edit from Britain, but oh well.

No offence taken, I didn't expect to win at all. I had my top edits picked out as well and thought they would win, so I was pretty surprised. The comp was about British skiers not location, you could be skiing anywhere so I don't think you can bash that but I completely understand where you're coming from.

Not even excited for it anymore. I think I'd rather just have an X-Pro for probably half the price. Or just spend $2000 on film and chemicals.

Entered a local film contest on a whim with a buddy, didn't have much time and the video didn't turn out great so we almost didn't submit, my boss convinced me to submit it and we won. Not a big contest or a great video but still 300$ in gift cards sounds pretty good for two saturdays worth of work. See if you can find the NS sticker in the video, also I realize that from just about every standpoint it is pretty rough but I am still stoked we won.

Really hoping the Nikon DF will have a reasonable price point, I like the retro styling and if it has the same sensor as the D4 that's all I really want. Could care less about AF points and other things people usually compare cameras with, I only have one lens that has AF anyways. Just a couple more days to wait, so I'll guess we'll just have to see what it turns out to be.

So many things were just stolen.

1. My car. Like my entire fucking car.

2. two Canon T2i's + batteries/cards/cardreaders/cleaning kits/etc

3. Almost all of my lenses/filters/chargers/flashes/bullshit

4. 2 Canon 1Ds batteries and the charger (charger alone is 200$ used)

5. Pentax P3

6. Minolta Hi Matic E

7. A lot of my clothes.

8. My sleeping bag.

9. Some garbage.

10. Carchargers/accessories/shoes

11. My travel toolbox

12. Backpacks/camerabags/unexoposed film

13. Sexy polarized sunglasses.

14. Fucking everything else that I can't think of.

and all of it was going to be required for work this week. I don't even know what to tell my clients now.

Oh god, not the public transport, I don't even wish that upon my worst enemies.

To be fair that sucks big time, do you have insurance?

pretty douchebag thing to state in a situation like this. plus taking a long distance train here is nowhere near as easy, cheap, or comfortable as the system you guys have across the pond.

I don't see what's douchebag about it... This shit DOES suck.

and... I've now been on the train for 13 hours straight. With another 2 hours to go... in what would have been half that amount of time via my car :(

and now I have like two days to try to acquire rental gear for work this week. Fucking DISASTER.

i was more pointing the douchiness at the sarcastic delivery.

i was agreeing with you that it does suck balls, haha.

Do you just copy whatever is said on the NR discussion or are you the one that posts it originally?

The silver is pretty ugly, boob left out the picture of the black one from the front, looks wayyy better.

My time is to precious to read comments so no I didn't copy it, besides, isn't it a common expression on the interwebs? It looks bad because, well everything. It's just a mess of buttons ,angles and rubber.

I was expecting something along the lines of the F and F2, only digital. But this looks like the Nikon F4 crashed headfirst into a D800.

Yeah, I really hate the silver ones, but honestly I don't really like any silver cameras (especially if that is silver plastic then what the fuck) I think the front view of the black is nice but pretty much everything else is shit.

I can't believe that Nikon was able to create this much hype followed by this much disappointment in a matter of weeks.

Good job, Nikon. You had a chance to make something awesome and just made another DSLR that has some knobby things and dials that have some of the aspects that cameras of old had.

Heres the thing though... mixing old with new usually leads to vomit in everyone's mouth. I'll be going with the Sony over that piece of blah, any day.

To be honest I think that camera would be awesome to shoot with, I like those dials. Yeah other cameras have dedicated buttons that you can change with scroll wheels but there's something about having it right there that's nice. It looks like it would be very similar to shooting with my F3 (which I'd assume they were going for) so I might have the consider this one. It does have the exact sensor I wanted too. the only real downside in my opinion is the price, a little bit higher than I was hoping but whatever.

I would agree with the majority that the silver one does not look nearly as good as the black one.
