M&A stoke

Off the top of my head, I thought it was any camera that doesn't use mirrors (so like, the sensor or film is right up against the rear element , and it has a viewfinder that is seperate from the lens, so you have to adjust it when you change focal lengths and stuff.

Why doesn't the fuji x100 qualify
 
a rangefinder is a camera with a rangefinder focus system. You look through an external VF and in the center is a split image. As you focus, that split image moves side to side, and once it is overlaid into a single image, then the camera is in focus.

the x100 does not use a rangefinder focus system, so it is not a RF. It uses AF with focus points like all other modern cameras.

the x100 is more like a contax G, which is technically a RF as it uses RF alignment to focus, even though it is an AF camera.
 
if you actually want a digital rangefinder, the 2 cheapest options are the epson rd-1 and the leica m8, both of which are quite old now and their sensors are showing their age. If you just want to look like a hipster with an old fashion styled camera, buy a fuji x series or an olympus om-d

or you can just buy a real film rangefinder and help keep film alive, buying my leica was one of the best moves i've ever made for my photography
 
I've been ogling at the mamiya 7 for a year, but that format just isn't efficient or practical for me right now.

I need great IQ quickly, easily, and conveniently. That means digital.

Are there any really good point and shoots out there that can par the aps-c of my t2i without the bulk and hassle? And yea I'm kind of a sucker for the leice-esque aesthetic, but it's the overall IQ that I'm looking for. Are there point and shoots that can shoot raw?

Developed my first roll of c41 today, and working on scanning it now. Amazed i didn't fuck it up terribly at some point
 
Newb. All the NYC box stores are run by jews, we are celebrating the holiday of Passover at the moment. Surprised you missed the big 'WE WILL BE CLOSED FOR TWO WEEKS' bar at the top of the site for the last month or so......
 
Had a meeting today with the marketing manager and Mount Royal University in Calgary about working with them for the next 6 months making some advertising videos. Pretty stoked. Also have a few jobs just filming presentations and some talking head interviews over the next while to make some extra cash. And finally, potentially a wedding this spring. Its going to get busy. On top of all of that we (403MEDIA) will be releasing our trailer for our first feature film in about 2 weeks and the movie will be premiering at Freshtival in Calgary in the fall.
 
I returned a lens and it didnt get back in time for them to process it before passover. Now I have to wait two weeks to buy a replacement for it. Fuck.

(Only downside is that it's heavy and big on the M, Summilux is more manageable, but the bokeh, oh lord the bokeh.)
 
Deciding which to take is going to be a very very very tough decision, but ultimately location (Vancouver) might be the deciding factor.
 
stoked for ya man! you know where i ended up after being part of both programs haha! just wish vancouver was a cheaper city to live in.

emily carr will be moving into a brand new campus in the next few years, so thats something you may want to look into when your making your decision
 
this random video made just for fun has gotten me a videoclip and probably 2 different events including a wedding. Total profit should be around 2000$ just because of the visibility this random video gave me.

classic clients that just want slow motion... the 120/240 feature alone will pay off that camera haha
 
Did you not state one of your reasons for the high frame rates as weddings? Couldn't remember your reason, something like "video clips"?
 
videoclips is a french canadian habit which means music videos.the slowmotion is really popular here.

for weddings I have the impression that people are just thinking of their pocket and not really opening their eyes and realising how much they would love it. It is not in that much demand yet so I included it with a wedding that I booked so I can show a practicle example to clients.
