I just picked up a Sachtler ACE, Tascam DR-40, and Variable ND filter. Start filming for a music video this weekend I can't wait.

Mainly because my 5dII's sensor is crapping out, and I needed a replacement for a few more wedding gigs I have coming up very soon (well before 6D starts to ship)

also:

-I have a bunch of CF cards already, and don't want to switch back to SD. Cheaper? yes, more reliable? not that i've found.

-I still can't make up my fucking mind about shooting video or photo. For photo work, the 6d is pretty bad (the AF is terrible, 97% VF, etc) and the 5dIII is beastly

 
haha im still going through the manual to figure shit out in the menu everyday. stoked to see some test footage/pics. btw hows the sigma 50 working for ya? finally got my focus correction on lock
 
- Stoked I got a zoom h4n and I am starting to learn how to use it, but I only have a rode videomic pro to go with it witch is kind of a bummer because I would love to test out those XLR inputs and I am a bit disappointed about the sound quality with the zoom and the videomic. - Stoked I got 800$ to spend at camera gear, thinking about buying a glidecam and some other accessories.

 
definitely get a shotgun mic with that. like a sennheiser or even a rode ntg series mic. sound quality is super crisp on the zoom with one of those. ive used it a couple times with a sennheiser and have never been disappointed
 
^I have been looking at the Rode ntg-1/2 and the Audio-Technica AT897 and AT8035 kits at B&H, my budget is under 300$ for a basic kit like this but I have no idea witch to choose. If any of you guys have some inputs on witch of those or other cheap microphones to choose and the difference between theme that would be great!
 
Stoked im so stoked on photography. Love shooting film and lately I've actually been thinking of making this more than just a hobby.

Also: stoked my portfolio is coming together.
 
I have done some paid stuff before, but thinking about doing at on a more regular basis. That was all for friends and people I know.

Filmed this kid that rides for Landyachtz longboards the other day. Pretty stoked on the footage. I didnt have my dolly so we took two longboards and set this up. Pretty make-shift but the shots turned out alright.

Starting up a new documentary project tomorrow which we have been preparing for about 2 months. Going to be doing a study into xenophobia, and especially, islamophobia in some of the most redneck, backasswards areas in Oregon, then going to contrast it to the subdued, but still apparent situation in some of the most hippie liberal, "dreadlocks on caucasians", areas of Oregon.

Should be interesting going to a place called "White City" wearing traditional Arabian clothing.
 
Sounds really cool man! Can't wait to see it! When do you think you'll be done? Somewhere before winter comes around?
 
The goal is to do some pretty extensive research, so it may be a project that goes on through about March or so. Right now we want to focus it on the immediate area, but with winter travels coming up, and such, there are plenty of other areas we're likely to go through and extend the documentary. If we do decide to focus it on the general area instead, then we may just say fuck it and leave it at about a 15-25 min doc instead, which will probably only take a few months to finish... We're leaving our options open still.

The idea is similar to when folks will don a fat suit... and then see how they are treated in certain places... Only we're doing it from a cultural base, rather than general physical appearance.

We might even go so far as to take an Arabic course at the local college in order to look and sound more legit.
 
Shot on a Bolex 680 Super8 camera today. First time ever shooting film video wise. Pretty stoked. Gona be developing it myself next monday as well at school. Should be interesting.

i realized i ,more or less, suck at setting up and using my motion timelapse slider

on the the plus side i've been using it alot, so therefore i'll be making a timelapse short soon

nah, my work has a studio setup, and my boss has a single light that we travel with but I'm looking for little gigs on the side and needed some lights
 
also very stoked on finally completing my setup. The only update I could possibly see in the future is going from the 70-200 f4l to the 2.8, but it's not really necessary for me right now.
 
they're just CFLs, 5 bulbs. Most people think they suck but i've used them a good amount and I personally love em
 
Stoked that I finally got around to getting a new camera bag. Good price too. My current one can't even fit my 5d with a grip, I have to take it off to put it in the bag.
