M&A stoke

I switched to CS5.5 from final cut about 6 months ago. For me it was super quick and easy to get used to premiere. There is an option to change all the keyboard shortcuts to the same as Final Cut, which made it really easy to get used to.

And cs6 has this program called speed grade. I don't really know anything about it, but I think it is the equivalent of color

And to the other kid, yes, I'm a junior at northeastern

Color is based on DaVinci, which fortunately no longer costs $30k, and can be bought from Blackmagic for cheap (it's much better than Color too).

Thanks much! I might have to DL the trial to see how I like it.

Landis: Is DaVinci hard to use? I just really learned how to use Color 1.5, and Im finally getting the hang of it. There arent to many downsides to FCP for my needs, people just say CS6 is a lot easier and pain free when it comes to transcoding, rendering, etc.

Used the 'profit' from my 60d to finally pick up a scanner for my film stuff. Can't wait to scan 120, I'll most some 35mm tomorrow, still playing around trying to figure out the best settings for different films.

nice dude, you really just need to work on the design aspect a little more though, the placement and movement of the text was cool but it didn't really work from a compositional standpoint. Text needs to be really attention seeking in ads, or else the consumer is going to have to strain to read it, or might not even bother at all. Good work though

I have to use one a lot for my main client, but it's theirs, so I decided to pick one up. I got it for $200 and could sell it for upwards of 600. Wasn't something I was really looking for but I feel it was a good investment. Makes talking head videos much easier

@eheath, the 3d text looked ok, but where it really starts to look good, is if you get in to interact with the footage. ie shadows or getting the text to reflect or bounce off objects in the video. After effects will be ok for this especially if your using somthing like element. But maybe look at getting a 3d app to. Then you can port the tracking data into the 3d app, rebuild elements of the video in 3d, map the footage to the models and get the text to better interact with the footage.

Yeah i totally know what youre saying, i want to mask/roto some of the titles but this ad is due friday so i dont really wanna spend anymore time learning stuff and just wanna get it done. more to come in the future though, i just learned this stuff ha stoked

Started playing the guitar a month ago, learned to read tab tonight too. Really stoked, I might buy a basic electric set up, because this shitty acoustic is making my fingertips bleed.

Doesn't have to do with your guitar. When playing a steel string, that's what happens. You should learn playing on an acoustic I think. Strengthens the fingers a LOT and you'll get some calies on your fingertips. It'll help out a lot later on. Also, if you play every day, within a couple weeks you won't feel anything anymore.

Just make sure you file your hard fingertips down a bit; it's kind rough on the women if you enter them like that. If you know what I'm sayin'

I thought it was pretty dope. did you follow a certain YouTube tutorial you wanna share or was it trial and error

I follow a tutorial on youtube, there are a few, they're all the same. I watched two different ones, one was for 3d text and one was for 3d motion tracking. both decently simple, definitely took some of my own messing around to get exactly what I want.

Sigma 50 1.4 purchased!

Also snagged a 2560x1440 27" monitor from ebay. I guess they are a hidden gem w/ Apple Cinema display LED panels.

POTN, it may have a MFA issue, but every lens he has used on his 5dc has required a +5 adjustment so it could be his camera.

link me. sounds like the guy i was talking to last night. Hope you didn't steal that from me!

In other news, it is rumored that Sony has a Full Frame NEX camera to be released soon... Dat E mount + FF + Vintage glass adapters = megusta

Doesn't sound too shabby. I like the Nex, much more than the Pen for example.

I don't think it will be 'long' (2-3 years) till I switch to a smaller system. Fujifilm has really shown how good small camera's can be. Stepping away from the Bayern pattern was a really good call. Love the X-1.

In a couple years, the quality of the small camera's is goin to be unreal.

here's some bonus footage i've acquired while moving between work sites. nothing fancy but I'd thought I'd share. a co worker was able to fly the golden gate and san fran which turned out amazing, hopefully an opportunity like that will pop up again.

Sooo sick man! Some of those shots had some great movement. Loved the landing shot and zoom after it was on the runway

Stoked I just picked up one of the best 60mm macro's (1:1) out there for 20 bucks. Could've probably payed 10$.

Mamiya Sekor 60mm macro f/2.8. GREAT lens.

Could probably sell it with around 200$ profit. Easy money.

Gargage sale of the MSU photo department is where I picked it up. If anyone wants me to buy a Nikon F3 for them, gimme a shout. They got a couple they sell fo 150$, but I could probably bargain down to 100$.

I have no idea where you're located, but that almost has to be the California Central Valley and the foothills above... If it's not then damn it looks like it...

So rad.

Oh, and stoked I bought an Olympus Zuiko 24mm! Finally!!! The lens I've been craving for and wanting for over a year will finally be mine. Should be here monday or tuesday, whoop-whoop!

512gb ssd, 2.3ghz, 8gb ram

im going from a late 2007 macbook which could barely run photoshop without glitching. so im stoked to see how much faster this thing runs.

I know I am most likely late to this, but isn't there a snorri shot of will wesson in after dark. When he's in the cave I think.

Yes, I have made a little bit this summer, all the money I make usually goes right back into my camera setup.

Theirs only 2 things I have my eyes on right now which are the Fs-700 and the rMBP, I dont have all the money right now but I have a couple more jobs this fall.

So since you cant upgrade your ssds once you run out of space, what would you say is the best option for external drives?

Iv got a 500gb external drive but it is a USB and nowhere near as fast as i would like.

It would be awesome to utilize the thunderbolt port too.

I was looking at g tech/lacie.

You have usb 3.0 so I recommend you use that. Thunderbolt is cool, but all of the hard drives you'll find for it will be super expensive. I'd recommend checking out a lacie/gtech drive that is at least 1tb (maybe 2tb) that has usb3.0. You shouldn't worry about your internal space, unless you have a shit ton of music.

Something along the lines of these? I dont really need to transport it anywhere but you it's not much more for the rugged.

Looking at one of these since it be mostly sitting at home.

They both seem like solid companies any reason to side with one or the other?
