M&A stoke

This thread's to share what you're most stoked about in the photo/film world. I know people are busy and have a lot of ideas that they want to pursue, and just haven't quite had the time yet to make it happen. Hopefully posting some things you want to film will help you to create some time to get it done.

To start things off--

- I just got back in touch with a friend that four wheels and is so sick at it. I already have a perfect song picked out and have been picturing the shots I'll get for the last day. Can't wait to start filming.

- Finally picked up a sandisk extreme pro 32gb 95mb/s SD card for my t2i and no longer have to worry about "filming has stopped automatically", makes me feel so much more confident when filming important things

- Just purchased a 3tb hard drive, so all my shits backed up!

share your giddyness

had some buddies toss it on to test it out... scope it!

password: snorriswag

yes there is a smoking shot, if you dont wann see someone ripping a bowl, please dont watch it, but most importantly dont give me shit.

Snorri Test avec les trois HOMIES from Max Bailey on Vimeo.

damn that mount is soo sick. he gave it to you or let you borrow it? Might want to rent that at some point if you're interested

Pretty sweet! My favourite snorri shot is this, so awesome

And I'm stoked about working to get some money for a 17-40

Getting some more 120 film back from the lab today. There goes everything I had planned for tomorrow.

Stoked to be-Filming more than ever this summer :) I already put out a mini edit of some shredding,

1. filming a wakeboard edit at this sick wake park that has a bunch of crazy jibs and stuff.

2. filming a kendama edit

3. filming a road trip video to Hood in July

4. just got a 16gb mem card and an extra battery for my t2i

5. Forgot filming a summer drop in edit

6. getting tamron 17-50

7. getting a rode video mic

8. going to college at the end of all this

-Stoked that I just completed the oldschool trinity of zooms (16-35 2.8L, 28-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L)

-Stoked that I got some sick shots at the wedding I filmed and nailed this guys second shooter spot

-Stoked to be shooting some 35mm film this summer

NOT STOKED that my 70-200's focus ring is fucked up and doesn't grip the USM to focus very well (and barely at all @70mm)

Stoked I'll be shooting a LOT this summer.

- Bought the infamous 17mm RMC Tokina (OM-mount). Let's see how it does.

- Stoked I'll be shooting a lot of film this summer. Bought 2 Minolta SLR's (XD-7 and XG-2) with 28mm and 50mm lenses.

- Stoked to learn how to develop my own film! Really excited about this!

- Stoked to shoot a lot of medium format. (and learn how to develop that as well).

- STILL stoked about my 5D classic. Such an awesome camera

- Stoked I'll be shooting with GND's this summer. Hopefully going to get some crazy landscape shots!

Too expensive... I'm not looking to spend a whole lot on this set-up. Right now I'm looking at shooting 35mm with Minolta and probably want to give Canon FD a shot as well. I've also got an old Nikon FG laying around, so maybe I'll try that too. Doesn't hurt to have many camera's.

Also canon FD's are amazing, great lenses. You can get an ae-1 with a 50mm for nothing. A tank of a camera. I love my f-1 and 50mm 1.4 ssc.

Stoked i'm headed to whistler next week!

Not stoked my tripod legs are broken as fuck.

Yeah. I haven't really decided which cam to pick. AE-1 (Program), AV-1 or A-1. I guess it doesn't really matter. I can pick up a an AE-1 for 10€, but I think I'd like the Program better.

I was planning on trying both systems, but am not sure as it's another 50+€ for an extra system and I think I'd like Minolta (though the name is horrendous). The XD-7 is supposed to be a killer cam.

Steady source of income = some film gear

Looking for a MF camera, probably gonna try and snag a mamiya 7 becuase of all of the fucking radical shit that I've heard about it, plus I've never used a RF before. stoked. (plus I have a shit load of fast 120 ilford rolls)

Also probably going to look for a dirt cheap 35. working-meter k-1000 shouldn't be that hard to find.

And maybe whistler road trip to shred glacier pub park.

And then art university in the fall.

and then, I don't know.

Are they fucked up?

I'm sure you have enough connects, but if you need some temporary tripod pieces I can probably put you in touch with someone in the UBC Film Production program, they could hook it up.

I mean, they work. Just can't extend one of my legs all the way and one of my legs doesn't stop at the standard spot, it just keeps going. They still work, its just annoying as fuck to set up. fsb4 is in my future.

I probably have the wrong person but aren't you at York for film? I remember someone bashing Ryerson's film department. Where are you going? Also, for the price of a mamiya 7, I think you could get any number of better systems for less. The 80mm is only f4, granted wil MF you'd be stopping up anyways, but still, for $1500 I personally would want something faster than F4. The only real advantage to a rangefinder is portability, the Pentax 67 and RB/RZ's are huge. My dream 120 camera is the Makina 67 rangefinder, such a nice lens! Also, way to not buy my k1000 I was selling last month......

Pretty much all the old, fast 35mm lenses are nice and sharp. You can't really go wrong with any system wether it be Oly, Canon FD's, Nikon/Nikkormat, Minolta, Pentax (screw or K), or Contax, they are all good. I personally like FD's because you can get faster/sharper lenses for substantially less than the other brands. Unlike most old lenses, you can't use FD's on DSLR's with a mirror, so the demand/prices are lower. Auto or priority exposure is nice to have, but truthfully, with a lens with an aperture ring, it's really quick to get a proper exposure. I think it would be more worth your while to pick one system and get multiple lenses and two bodies (1 colour, 1 b&w). There is no sense in having 6 different SLR's all with 50mm's. You have tons of old glass for your 5dc, pick a system and get shooting.

Also, so I don't tripple post. I'm SO stoked for my summer film stock.

2x Ilford Delta 400

6x HP5

1x Portra 400

1x Portra 160

1x Fuji pro 400h

14x Kodak 400 cheap shit

25 roles = 900 frames.

That film, my Canon F-1, 50mm f/1.4 SSC, and flash are all I'm shooting with this summer up at camp. Really excited to not have to think about gear, and just being able to shoot with a small, lightweight setup.

Stoked to be starting a webisode this summer!

Stoked since I just bought or will buy: A backpack, Tamron 17-50, and a Glidecam 2000 Pro!

Stoked to get out and learn more about photography instead of videography.

Mostly just stoked on life, bought a new longboard and I have been cliff jumping 5 times in the last 7 days or so.

damn dude, I only recently had the aspiration to invest in film gear. I would have picked up your Pentax in a heartbeat if you were selling it now. And yea, the main reason I'm looking for the mamiya 7 is for the convenience and ergonomics (which plays a huge part in my shooting style), and also for the phenomenal results that it can produce. As for the poor lens options, I would rather have a sharper image, and the f4 is phenomenal. I've used a Bronica ETR, and that style system really isn't my thing. I'm sure I could get used to it, but I would probably find myself leaning towards a tripod more than I would like, and it doesn't really appeal to me (unless it's a 503cw, which I admire purely because of it's construction and build quality, not to mention the hasselblad legacy. I would never buy one though.)

You were correct, I'm not going to York for film. I'm heading out to Savanna College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Georgia on a scholarship, not for film though.

Yeah. I know. Thing is, all my old glass is from every mount you can think of (PK, OM, F, M42, T2) so...

Minolta and FD both appeal to my because of the lower prices because you the flange focal distance is too long on both to use on SLR's.

The difference in price between Minolta and FD lenses is non-existent so it really doesn't matter.

I've got enough Canon gear already, so I figured I'd go with Minolta this time around. The Rokkor-PG's alone were enough reason for me to choose Minolta over Canon. I hate Minolta's name though. So ugly.

Haha, sharing the stoke, this and all other Sir Digby Chicken Caesar sketches are by far my favorite use of snorri ever.

.

Oh, and I'm stoked on my new camera bag(s) I just picked up today.

I had a shitty old trunk as a backpack SUPER uncomfortable (TSG Love Park) and bought not one, but two new F-stop bags today, haha.

I bought the Tilopa second-hand for 75€ from a buddy who is sponsored by them and I also ordered the Loka and Medium Pro+Small shallow ICU's. WOOO!

stoked to shoot my first wedding next weekend

stoked to start working on a DIY jib crane

stoked to use it for some summer sports edits

I just finished the final cuts on a short edit I made called "Closed to the Public." I tried something new by limiting myself and using only a Canon FD 50 1.8 which gave me some interesting results. Overall it looks amazing and I haven't even begun grading the footage yet!

Tomorrow I leave for Mass. to stay for a week at my families cottage, my aunt and uncle have to sell it because of increasing taxes and it's been in our family for like 4 or 5 generations. I plan on putting together a short memorial video because the cottage is located on a bluff looking out over the most beautiful landscape I've yet to see. It should come out great.

Later on I'm heading up to Windells for camp and plan on getting some great photos.

Then I'll be upgrading to the GH2 and making some more great edits!

haha yes. Stoked a crashed hard drive with PC, Brighton and Whistler footy is recovering. Meaning that there will be another webisode in the future!

I guess I'm sorta stoked to be moving to SLC and bringing my camera along

Kinda stoked to be an hour and a half away from hood

Stoked on my current setup, feel no need to upgrade anything for quite some time
