Hey guys! I've finally finished my site after a couple days of sitting down and getting stuff done. (email, some videos, etc.) I'm starting to release some stuff shortly on my website. I need your opinion before I give it out to anyone... so:Check it out!

Congratulations. But I'd prefer that this thread doesn't turn into a shitstorm for the sake of the moderators. All I'm looking for is some recommendations.
 
I would go ahead and change that. It's not like you're re-writing the entire thing, just changing the point of view. I'd be very turned off if I read that as someone looking into another's work.

Aside from that everything looks fine.
 
I didn't like the whole "I have an edit, but it's hidden". Leave that to the trolls on here (irony?) and on the L1P calender thing.

I also didn't like all the links and stuff on the left hand side, but that's me being picky/OCD.
 
Yeah. That's the point. I'm going to release content as the next month or two moves along.

Now, I need some opinions on what I should add.

I was thinking a downloads page.... like wallpapers, scripts, and logos.

Also, should I make a page for my videos, or just have a link to vimeo?
 
overall, not horrible.

i don't understand a few things --

faq doesn't belong, isnt necessary

mailing list - do you really have information to be send out, newsletters, etc or is it just a way to send out annoying emails?

about you - written by a 12 year old for 12 year olds, if you want people to take you seriously have your dad take a crack at it

also the home page image and the nav text blend in

and last but not least, you "own" a media site. get some media content before you expand promote it.... because you have nothing to promote right now, other than 4 different versions of the same resume
 
Have somebody with more than 6 years of schooling write your about me, it sounds like it's been written by a 12 year old, which of course it has.

Secondly, and no this is not hate, but you should really try to get more content out before making a website, nobody's going to visit it if there's nothing to guide them there.
 
Resume is completely irrelevant. Cut it down to 1 page. No reason to have 4 different ways to download it. Just use doc or pdf.
 
Yeah. Thanks, I'm just releasing the site in an "Alpha" stage.

I'll make those revisions ASAP as I said.
 
It would be beta. And there's no need to have so many different formats of your résumé.
 
i actually liked it. i think the "description of team members" could be written a little better

You've got a media site without a single video on there.

Your resume switches between first and third person mid sentence.

You say you're educated in programs such as FCP and PS...no. Just because you can make a simple logo with photoshop and put together some clips with music behind them in Final Cut does not mean you are educated in those.

"He had a dream to be a filmmaker, and so did his friend." Take a swing at writing that once you learn proper sentence structure.

Actually, this whole paragraph is just a joke.

"Splice was founded in January 2009 when Justin was only 9 years old! He had a dream to be a filmmaker, and so did his friend. They founded it with the name J&J Productions. After a year or so, the co-founder and Justin got in a fight, resulting in a split of the company. The co-founder also left the school, which restricted any way to get the company back and running. Justin, being the persistant kid that he is, continued with J&J until 2011 when the company was renamed to Splice."

Site looks good but why do you have someone else's video on your site. If you are a PRODUCTION company then all the videos should be yours not advertising for someone else. I understand you might not have any media to post but dont post other peoples. (Im talking about trap star on steves page and idk but are the pictures for the riders your pictures? if not id get rid of them)
 
the website looks cool..however i have yet to see any of your "films" not even on your website or vimeo?

bahaha at this point im calling troll. "splice media group" or just a hilarious prank. please show me some of your work
 
if you aren't actually some long running prank someone (Steve Stepp) has had going for a while, you may actually be successful if you manage to put out any decent edits. i dont know anyone else (maybe eheath but he's actually put out some of the better ski edits) that has taken this much shit and not quit.
 
Didn't start this thread with the intention of it being a shitstorm. The first couple of posts we pretty good.
 
1. the site looks good2. more importantly, as so many people have already stated, WHY THE FUCK do you have a site when you don't produce jack shit?
 
This is merely a preview of what I'm doing. I'm not giving this link to my clients. This site is in a BETA stage, as I stated before. I plan on releasing stuff in the future. In fact, I'm going to Key tomorrow!
