I applied to lyndon State to do thier ski resort manegment program does any one here go there?

How do you like it?

What is there to do around there?

Hows the skiing?

and anytihng else good/bad about it.

Thnaks

i go there and i like it. there isn't much to do around there but the skiing has been really sick at burke which is like 15 minutes away from school. jay peak is also like an hour north. its definitely a school that doesnt appeal to a lot of people but if you're really into skiing then id say its a good choice for you.

I have been waiting for someone to ask about these colleges, I'm looking into both of them for their ski resort manangement majors. If anyone else on here goes to either one, just keep talking about them and hook us up with some insight and good/bad things about each school and program. Thanks in advance.

yeah but GMC is way more exspensive and so small. Im a senior in Ski resort at lyndon. I looked at GMC but picked LSC. Im glad i did. I have been happy with the program. THey have pretty good job placement and the skiing is awsome. Always people that are down to ride and do urban. Its a small town and small school but i always have plenty of shit that keeps me entertained.

Yea i am likeing them both, i like that lyndon is close to burke, and jay, becuase i like to ski trees, and cliffs and that stuff more then park, and they have the kingdomtrails for riding in the spring/fall and that its bigger then GMC but they both look like good schools.

yeah kingdom trails is real nice with sick cross country plus some dh. There is also some dirt jumps around and sick indoor bmx setup that some guy has in st j. there is good rock climbing and awsome ice climbing if you like that. Some nice cliffs/bridges and rope swings once it warms up. Burke really surprises people with there trees and cliffs. Everybody knows about Jay but burke has some sick spots and is always compleatly empty.

I know you guys are close to killy, but do you get to ski that much there... or is it all work, and what types of positions can you get, which one do you do?

Well lyndon acepted me, so ive got a few more questions,

how is it living on campus?

is there any where to live off campus?

im sure il have more

How many days a week is class and etc? Also, I don't know if some one already answered this, but does lyndon or GMC have better mountains to intern at?

i am senior at Lyndon in the Ski resort program. I like the school and love riding Burke and Jay. It is really easy to set up your schedule so you can ride at 5 full days a week or 4 full days and 3 half days every week.

both programs look and sound sweet, but which one has better connections for after college... please list some examples of other mountains that the schools have connections with. Thanks

At lyndon your sophmore year you do practicum at Jay, Burke, Stowe, and B-woods. You get to meet a ton of people who work at each of these mountians. The president of Jay also teaches the the into to Ski resort class along with the head of The Balsams. They also have conection at other mountiians all over. You also get a free burke pass your sophmore year and some people depending on where you do your practicum also get a free Jay pass. Burke is super nice to ski every day and just lap their mini park or hit up the woods.

Thanks dude, that sounds sick. I am going to apply to them both next year and I think it is probably going to be a hard choice. Just keep posting random stuff in here about what's happened or is going on in school so I have something to do here in school in pa(SUCKS!!!!) Thanks

you will get in to lyndon no prolblem they accept almost evrybody. One other plus is they have 3 really nice pretty unique urbans on campus. Big c rails mellow dfdf ledge and side kinked rail

I hope I will get in, I got a 4.0 at a prep school and everyone thinks its dumb I'm wasting myself at a ski resort, But that is what I want to freakin do!!!

Some local ones that i know they have good connections cuz i went and met the people are Burke, Jay, Stowe, Bretton Woods, Okemo, Balsams, Pats peak. Umm i know LSC has good connections at Mamoth and a bunch more i cant remember. Okemo cuz they manager is a graduate.

That sounds sweet, I was wondering becuase I am def going to work in the east during school, hopefully jay or stowe or burke... but might eventually want to head west and work. That would be sick if they could hook us up with connections out there!

i just got out of class and my teacher was also talking about good connections with intrawest. So that gives you a bunch out west plus smuggs was reall good i heard. Also they have real good connections at lots of places besides ski areas if you want to get into some other kind of recreation work.

That sounds really sick, because I will prob head west after college... so that is good. But I just want to work at a ski resort, not really anywhere else. Also, do you guys have any snow on the ground up there

Its not great right now but there is always snow up here. Its pretty far north. I would say about 1 foot of hard base at the school but lots more at the mountains.

2 of the main teachers in the rec department are retiring this year so there is gonna be a lot of changes next year

im not sure who they are being replaced by but i think they could be hard to replace especailly Rod Zwick who teaches all teh thesis classes

right now it is imposable to say cuz i dont know who the new teachers will be. Ussually LSC get pretty good staff cuz people like the area alot.
