when (in a typical season) does this resort start getting actually skiiable? i'm snowmaking there for the next 5 weeks but I'm unsure whether or not to bring my ski's etc

Lutsen's tree runs are skiable after the first major snowfall. 2 years ago they got 3 feet in early december from one storm, I'd say on average it'll be around Christmas/New Years. Prime time is in February, their crappy park is usually up in mid to late January.

I'd bring them with anyways just because skiing is skiing and there's always a chance you could get a major dump in november.
