LRG, still worthy? I think not.

LRG was created circa 1999 in SO-CAL, CA.

I remember when I would purchase an LRG t-shirt at the mall and walk through the parking lot thinking and knowing I had the best underground T ever made. The witty tagline of "underground invented and overground effective" even proved why my thirty dollars was well spent. Today I see the same shirt I bought five years ago, at the same store, at the same mall, doing nothing for me. I personally believe the sudden and excessive growth of LRG has created, "overbranding" across the country. Being from Cali I see brands come and go everyday and I know LRG is next to go. The designs are clean, well thought out and sometimes classic. But why is there a sudden lack of interest for the brand? If you wear LRG I dont think any different of you, I just think you are wearing your lil bros clothes. Learn to shop in the men's sections of the department store, not the kids. Your colorful shirts are bringing out the gay in you. I guess I was once there but now realize how much one brand can evolve over time into the complete opposite of what you though you rep. I belive the tagline should be "underground invented, overground sellouts". Contrary to what you may feel, LRG is a sellout.

LRG was super popular towards then end of last school year and the beginning of this school year but it's dying out now. That's how it is in CA. I never really minded the LRG phase. I hated the Famous phase two years ago. Every kid and their dog had a Famous tee. Fucking dirty beaner brand. That shit is dead now. I NEVER see Famous and I'm damn fine with that.

i dont think my school has ever gone through clothing brand phases. (besides holllister and the other shitty prep brands.)

Haha. Word. Back about four years ago when I was in middle

school kids went through the Hollister/Abercrombie phase. Can't wait to see what next year's hot brand is.

mine didn't, it was just broken down into groups

preps=A&F

hipsters=urban outfitters

emo bitches=black stuff

mexican=dickies

everyone else=lrg

For everyone who is saying "I don't care about clothes, clothes are gay, etc." you MUST live at home with your mom still. Why should you care? You should care about trends because overall that is what directs the ski industry and determines what you can and cannot buy. Brands are made for you, not for everyone else. If you see a sick as jacket and you buy it, you are contributing to trends. I assume you don't roll on the slopes in a birthday suit.

if YOU like something then YOU buy it who gives a fuck if youll be like super fashionable to everyone else.. its your opinion about yourself that matters.

yeah, I don't give a shit if the lrg trend is dying, at its height, just starting, whatever... I think some of their designs are really dope so I buy it

Why did they sell out? They started out small, created a name for themselves and grew their company. Isn't that the purpose of starting a business? Where do u think 10 Deep & Crooks & Castles are going to be in 5 years. Maybe they won't be on the rack at Macys but they won't just be in sneaker stores and boutique type clothing stores. I'm 30 and I don't wear tall tees and shirts with crazy graphics and colors but I still rock 10 Deep and some other small label urban clothing labels. But that's just my style it's not because I think LRG or Zoo York sold out. Did Vans ans Stussy sell out too? They're back on the scene hardcore lately (outside of their core BMX & surf markets respectively).

same here. but we still have phases.. last year everyone had to get ipod touches... there is nobody in my school who doesnt have one.. this year.. longboard. i swear, 95% of kids have long boards now..

i dont agree at all, your saying lrg is a sell-out, yet you buy your clothes from department stores, lrg is not a sell out company at all, they just happened to become a big company because they make really nice, good looking, quality stuff, with a signature look. thats not selling out. so gtfo

In my school it's always been; n00bs: gap/wal-mart
everyone else: Armani, true religion, diesel, g-star, etc.
Me: LRG, jiberish, nomis, etc.

Lrg has got a bit of a bashing in previous years, and there was a time when it was less than satisfactory, but now it has managed to keep producing new and exciting pieces.

Lrg is more than just a brand, its a way of life for a lot of people, its endorsed by many celebrities artists and sports people, and deserves more recognition.

Lrg has grown with its following and stayed true to the values it subscribed to from the start. I will keep on wearing Lrg and if you were once into it I would suggest you have another look you will be glad you did..
