i just got this text from some one i dont know and it says this.

"call this number. 1-603-413-4131. its the petition for lowering the drinking age to 18"

i dont know if its a prank or something but i hope its legit.

i dont know if its legit or not. but should i call it?

has any one herd about this?

 
yeah i think i saw something about it on the newspaper, but since i dont read the paper and only glanced at the headline i could be wrong.
 
exactly. and by then, i think ill think that it shouldnt be raised just so everyone else suffers like us. so i wouldnt vote for it
 
I realized today that I have FOUR years until I can "legally" drink alcohol. Four years, that's a long ass time. I never realized how ridiculously high the age is until I started to think about it.
 
but for real no one has fake id to buy alcohol, or just ask someone when they enter the liquor store to buy you some booze, come on be creative a bit! you gotta work for that booze, way more fun
 
Thats a bad attitude. I think that lowering the drinking age will really help with drinking and driving incidences and other alcohol problems with underage kids. It seams like every kid I know that has gotten in trouble got that way by trying to sneak around their parents.

At least lower the beer drinking age to 18.
 
I agree completely, working for that booze is a lot more fun. I loved underage drinking, definitely a lot more exciting and you never knew when you were going to be able to drink. Unlike now where I can drink whenever I want, which sounds good, but gets old quick.

Honestly, I don't know if the drinking age should be lowered. If it was, everyone aged 18-20 would go out and buy lots of alcohol, and more drinking and driving deaths would occur. People would go out every night, and be more induced to drink & drive. Also, an 18 year old is still in high school, and many would buy alcohol for the underclassman. I am NOT saying an 18-20 year old is not mature enough to drink. It should have always been 18, then there would be no problem. But if it is suddenly lowered, it would create many problems. Many a controlled environment for an 18-20 year old would work. (for example just at home). Maybe 19 would be better, since they would be out of high school. Also, the driving drunk limit for those under 21 should always be .00 instead of .08.
 
uhh son, rome there is no drinking age. me and my sis rockd into the bars when i was 14, so legit.

In some European countries if you are caught drinking and driving you lose your license forever.

But this is an issue that is up for debate. These are most likely not pranks.

To the best of my knowledge the US is the oldest drinking age country.

I just find it incredible that 18 you are expected to be able to manage finances, completely understand the laws, support your self, not to mention die for your country, but you cannot enjoy a beer.

Lower the drinking age.
 
Very bad idea. i have no problem with people under 21 getting an underage drinking ticket if they blow less then a .08 but why should we ruin a large part of there life by giving them a DUI.
 
they should just take away the fucking drinking age. i hate drinking, mostly because literally every single person who drinks thinks they are some huge badass for doing it. you always see so many people at parties walking around like they are the shit and talking about how cool they are because they can drink liquid just like every other living thing on this planet. american kids (13-30 year olds) seem to always have this "look at me im shotgunning a beer, arent i crazy? look over here guys im so tough! everyone look at me!!" type of attitude. and its so gay.
this is the main reason why i dont drink, it can turn you into a complete tool. and it sucks cause everyone does it, if you dont drink constantly just to look cool, people think you are screwed up in the head. when i tell people i dont drink or smoke with a huge smile, people give me the wierdest looks. ive had people get pissed at me before for saying that im more happy not needing to be dummed down by alcohol and drugs to be happy.

just getting rid of the drinking age would most likely just make alcohol like any other beverage, i have a cousin who goes to school in europe, he says that nobody goes as crazy over alcohol like we do here, they still drink a bit, but they dont hammer down 20 beers so they can look cool to their friends then kill 5 people in a car accident. its more spread out over time, like 3 beers a day or something just because its a good beverage. european countries still have drinking ages, but they are usually very low and not enforced at all.

Same in spain. It was sweet just sitting in the bars at the age of 16. Next year i can drink legally here too (The legal age is 18). And just like someone said above me no local really drank at all, it was just mostly the tourists who were getting drunk all the time, including me.
 
Thats not the best comparison to use. Slavery was taking away freedom from black people. That was a much bigger issue than a drinking age that should be lowered by 3 years. Honestly, who cares? Its just a beverage.

you have a cousin in europe. cool. i have been to europe probably more times than you have been out of your state. the reason they dont go crazy is because they dont care as much as we do in the states. the drinking age in amsterdam is fucking 16 years old. do you know when you get your drivers license there? you get it when your 18. i go to holland every fucking year cuz i have family there. i would know what its like drinking there.

and what the fuck are you talking about killing 5 people in a car crash. yeah that happens and im sorry to say it but honestly more parties happen with kids getting drunk then actually killing someone. everyone i party with ALLWAYS makes sure were good to drive home. never under the influence. or the host will take our keys to our cars from us and make us spend the night at his or her place.

my dad and i both think that the drinking age should be 18 and the driving age should be 19. think about it. its safer.
 
not true, i was there on an exchange, anyone was allowed to drink, but you have to be 16 to buy beer/wine and 18 for hard alcohol, like for instance my exchange partners brother was 12 and drank all the time

I doubt you'll ever see 18 again in the U.S. There are to many dumb ass kids who don't know how to drink responsibly. Plus, I'm fairly close to turning 21 and I'd hate to see the drinking age lowered at this point. I think every other 20+ year old would agree.
 
maybe its the town i live in but seriously like 90% of the kids are like that, walking around with their shirts off and flat billed hats acting all crazy and shit. im fine with the people who just drink because they actually like it, but it seems like most people's reason is just to look cool.
and as for being straight edge? no, i just dont drink or smoke at all cause i dont need to be dumbed down to be happy with my life.
and drinking is taking a risk? really? see this is half of what i hate about kids that drink a shit ton, just because you dont drink they suddenly think you are all stuck up and "goody good" and you wont do anything "risky" really its all the drinkers who are stuck up, they think that they are so awesome cause they do something every other fucking kid does. and they get all butt hurt when someone says they dont like to drink.
i get soooo much shit from my friends for not drinking i hear shit like "why cant you just enjoy life?" "try something new" "stop being such a pussy" etc... yet they hardly ever go outside, they hardly ever wanna ski or do anything fun cause they want to just sit there all day and drink to be drunk shit i probably spend like 10 hours every day outside doing something and i love it, it just is alot more appealing to me. sorry but i just dont see how doing nothing but sitting around being drunk every day is "enjoying life" or "taking risks" actually i find it extremely depressing. and it really is, the friends of mine who are like that really seem super depressed. im pleased with my life how it is, and i love being that way, but still it seems to piss people off.

and yeah you may be responsible about driving i was never talking about YOU, im talking about the average kid. there were 4 seperate recks that resulted in deaths last year as a result of alcohol. i know like 8 kids at my school that got dui's and thats just what i know of.

so yeah im not talking about you specifically or anything, im just saying i know so many people who have gotten so completely gay because of drinking. i dont drink because i hate the taste of alcohol, i hate the feeling of being drunk, ive tried it, and im knocking it. i guess i could be just like every other kid and drink only because it will make me look cool, but fuck that.

i agree, im kinda sick of people who drink a bunch. it really brings out the "tool" as you said in them. i used to drink but it just makes me feel like shit and like you said, i also like to do other things and get outside. and since i quit drinking, i have been doing alot more of that lately and ive been alot more happy in general
 
k i understand what you are saying now. but where do you live? cuz like 0% of the kids around where i live do not act/wear clothes like you describe. i have never seen that at a party or anything around where i live. but honestly yes there is kids who do it to be cool. but most of them dont. but you say you hate kids who drink a ton. i drink alot but i dont drink every single day. that would be way fucking crazy.

but i dont see how we are stuck up. yeah we'll get bummed if you dont drink cuz thats one less person to have a good experience with. but were not going to totally like flip out or not be friends with that person who doesnt drink. maybe your friends are just ass holes. who knows.

you say that everyone who drinks hardly goes out side. that is not true. not one bit. maybe with your friends but not everyone. a friend i party with is like a top up hill runner. she goes hiking every single day. and i think does a run up the mountain 3 times a week. its the same with her boy friend. but he doesnt compete. she gets like top 3 almost every time she races. she is going to nationals. and yet she still gets shit faced when we party. ha. so basically the only time we party is at night cuz thats when we do nothing. so what im guessing is that youre judging everyone by what your friends do, say, and what the people around you do and act. and again with the DUIs at your school. those are kids at your area. so youre judging again. and then you say you know many people who have gotten gay because of drinking. again that is the people you know. judging.

but you keep thinking that we drink to look cool. not everyone does. most people dont. again we drink for fun, memories and laughs.

my town is extremely trendy, there are like 4 highschools here and each one has a different type of person that goes there, one is full of rednecks, one full of jocks, one with actual normal chill people, and one with all the extremely trendy people, and i live on the side of town thats full of jocks and trendy people, and when you combine those, you get some pretty gay stuff. so at parties you see a combo of jocks with their shirts off stairing at their muscles, and people who are just there to be cool, because thats what trendy people do. and then every now and then we get some hicks trying to fight everyone, and if we are lucky we get the normal people from the other school who actually make parties tollerable.
and i was saying people are stuck up cause they get so pissed when you dont drink, some people understand it and could care less, but ive had some people actually get pretty angry when i say i dont drink.

i know there are people out there that drink just cause they like it, unfortunatly most those people are like over 40. but there are some kids that actually do just like it, and dont get hammered all the time so they can brag the next day about how much they were throwing up the night before, so they look "daring"

i will actually drink if i like it, i went to mexico last year and i was drinking every day, not cause i wanted to get completely hammered, but just cause all pina colada's and shit are very good. id average like 4 drinks a day and i liked it.
but thats the problem, nobody has parties with pina colada, and atleast the people i know call me a pussy cause stuff like that is a "girl drink" which gets back to the tough guy, badass image alot of people try to make for themselves for drinking.

 
yeah see all the parties that you know of or go to have douche bags that go to them. so youre judging everyone by what you see at those types of parties. which isnt fair. but everyone does it so...

yeah that sucks when people get angry, but oh well. they'll get over it. and yes there are people who just like it. im one of those people. not everytime i drink is the time to get shit faced. i was partying the other night at a co-employees house. and i drank but i didnt get shit faced. i got tipsy. but not shit faced. i couldnt stand getting shit faced everytime i drink.

and fuck that shit about a girl or guy drink. i dont care and i dont know why anyone should. if you like it, you like it. so continue drinking it. people do party with those kind of drinks. the other night we had a margarita party and i didnt get shit faced. it was just a time to drink and hang out.

and yes there is still people who will try to look like a bad ass. and try to out drink their friend or what evs. but not everyone is like that.
