Low down on the U student life

There is a really high chance I will be attending u of u for college next year. I'm having a hard time deciding between u of u, cu boulder, and mu. U of u is my first choice, but it would be awesome if some one could give me the an idea of what student life is like(things to do, parties, and strictness) I'm from Colorado I live 5 miles from cu boulder, any information would be awesome.

When I was a freshman, I partied anywhere from 2 nights a week to every night a week and then ski 4-6 days a week as well.

It's all about meeting homies, we'd party in the dorms alot but we went out every fri/sat night to big parties, just gotta meet people.

The school in general is awesome, its getting better and better every year, I highly suggest it.

BRING A CAR you'll find yourself begging people for rides everywhere, you cant really walk anywhere from campus and there is bus/trax but if you wanna ski bring a car.

I only did freshman year in the dorms, definitely suggest only doing one year, but dont skip out on the dorms, its a great time and also a great resource. like 95% of my friends ive met and hang out with to this day are because of people i met in the dorms.

Thanks a lot that was very helpful too me. I am going. To accept to the U over cu because the U has a mining engineering major. I was just hear being in Colorado that Utah is still in the dark ages when it comes to alcohol. I have accepted I will have to slow down blazing.... But I am very excited regardless!

I mean weed isn't legal in Utah but I know plenty of dude who smoke a shit ton of weed haha

When I first moved in to the dorms at the U me and my buddy found out that EHeath, the biggest douchebag in the world, also lived in our dorms. On that day I thought "god dammit, we must avoid this piece of shit at all costs."

The next day I was heading back from class and my buddy texts me "we're hangin in eheath's room"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I came to utah to ski over my spring break senior year of high school in addition to checking out the campus and dorms as I had just been accepted to the U...I requested to my buddy who picked me up that we get some pot..he promptly responded that we could find that at some douchebag eheaths house..I thought to myself..

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The U is pretty legit, specifically the engineering programs.

The freshmen scene was by far the best, just not a lot of fucks given. Lots of house Parties, I wouldn't go greek, unless you like butt plugs.

Dorms are a must freshmen year, meet as many people as you can. The skiers all know the skiers, and hate on the frats... pretty much every year. Get in tight with the ski community, and I think you will really enjoy your time in Utah.

definitely Chapel Glen if your main goal is to party, otherwise the honors dorms are super nice

I like Sage Point better because the rooms are bigger. I hate gateway and the smaller dorms. Anywhere you go there will be parties, they are everywhere.

When I was a freshman I know it was super hard to get a single, they are reserved for sophomores and older.

You're going to college... get a room mate. Or you can puss out and live the rest of your life regretting that you didn't have the full college experience.

And Chapel Glen or Gateway for sure if you like partying. I lived in Sage Point, but almost all my friends were in Chapel Glen and that's where I hung out pretty much the entire year. I just went to Sage Point to pass out.

Honestly, Sage is the way to go to get shit done. Gateway and Chapel aren't a far walk and when I needed to concentrate, I went over to Sage. It's just an overall better place to be. If you want to party, join a fucking frat or some shit like that.

I lived in Chapel Glen my freshman year. I was always glad I didn't live in Sage Point, even though it's not a far walk it seemed kinda cut off from everyone to me. I never thought it was too obnoxiously loud in the dorms to do hw, so I never had trouble concentrating when I needed to. Plus you could always go to the library if you want a designated study spot. Dont join a frat, the U isn't a big greek school (which was something I liked about it ha). Just go live in Chapel Glen, meet a bunch of people, and go to the bigger off campus parties on the weekends. Then sophomore/junior/senior year get a house with a few friends in Sugarhouse or maybe the Avenues and you'll be all set. And Eheath's right, definitely bring your car if you have one. It's possible to make due without one (plenty of my friends STILL don't have cars) but it's a huge pain in the ass and your life will be much easier if you have the car.

I visited on saturday and i swear i saw like 20 kids the entire day... do people actually go to the school or did eheath chase them away

Are you high? Why the fuck would people be sitting around campus on a saturday? Especially this Saturday was a pow day. Go on a Monday you'll see thousands of students. Btw I'm not in college anymore.

party scene is wack. there are never times to get drunk or do every drug around the sun. I mean never. not once here in utah. Its chyll. frats are cool too.

I think its more for the shock value of the article than anyone actually really caring all that much. Kids making an igloo and getting high in it? Sounds like a pretty good story to me.
