Loveland Pass, CO, in MAY...

why are you not skiing that right now!! i would be hikin up one of those hills and shredding some late may snow..

Hahaha I'm actually not even stoked on it... I want to dirtbike / hike / kayak / fish. My mind is just blown... I bet east coast is prime right now.

Paradise (keep in mind Paradise is only 5400') still has over 200 inches. Mt Baker (at only 4200') still has over 200 inches.

It is going to be a good summer in the Cascades.

Haha don't have to hike... ABasin is right at the end of the video and is open through June. I've been shredding for like two years straight with a month break (work at summer camps) so I'm kind of over it. I want me some sun and beaches and tanning and fishing and dirtbiking! Fam just bought a place in San Diego on the beach so I'm going to be heading there for awhile. Infinite winter gets old.

haha, it's prime for..... i don't even know what. I wish our snow had lasted longer. Summer set-ups since april =/

fuckin miss this place so much.. my dad used to live 20 min from the loveland pass, now he moved to south dakota ):

Hahaha, fo sho!

But we have places not too far that are open and the private MX track in Dillon, CO is opening this week. FINALLY.

well kidds i skied abasin yesterday and the pass today. 17 new inches at abasin not to long ago i am sorry for all you east costers i still have my powder skis out :-) this season has ROCKED

still skinning berthoud pass once or twice a week. and getting solid runs in, nbd. The best part is, is that I can do all the summer stuff, then drive an hour and still ski pow. Love CO soo much

Keystone too! Keystone SummerMix FTW. Park is probably gonna be sick.

Woodward At Copper's park is going to be SILLY this summer.

ive been at the basin twice a week since spring break, their park crews gotta get their shit together tho its kinda getting boring with the same lame set up. Especially when you can see like 10 rails sitting next to the park unused. Gotta love spring skiing though!!!!! That is just my only complaint

When was this??? I was there saturday and sunday and all it did was shit snow all over our trip! We were craving the blue bird day like in that vid. Actually sunday wasn't too bad.

Hahaha that's May for you. I know... yesterday evening there were hardly any clouds and I was freaking out for a couple hours without snow for once. Not sure exactly what day it was taken.

Loved that video Gee. I was pretending I was riding a motorcycle and holding my cursor on the center of the lane. Pretty fun.

O shit i thought that was more recent. Ya saturday a basin claimed 7 inches but up top it was nearly knee deep in places. It was the biggest pow day of my season lol.

If time wasn't a consideration, I would prefer to drive over the pass instead of staying on I-70 and going through the tunnel. Sometimes it's actually faster to go over the pass when CDOT is metering traffic. They stop traffic going East bound for about 20 minutes to spread the traffic out on the road. Not sure whether it helps or not.

I have driven over Loveland pass when visibility was about 15 feet past your front bumper. It's terrifying but fun, and at least you aren't parked on I-70 waiting for CDOT to open the tunnel. I love driving in crap weather like that, and taking the back roads sometimes helps you to avoid the parade of idiots.

Loveland pass is my favorite place in the world. When I die I def want my ashes spread there.

so does this spell an epic whitewater kayak season for you folks out there or what? I heard you CO folks are real dependant on the snowmelt out there for high water.

Yes and no... I posted another thread a few days ago about all the flooding concerns in the west now because of the catastrophic levels of snow we have. A resevoir in Nebraska that gets a lot of the snow melt is 94% full with a capacity of 1 million square feet, but it's estimated that the snow still left in the rockies is well over 2 million.

It will be epic but it will also be dangerous.
