I found this list of lost ski hills in New England and one know of a list of lost maritime ski hills. I know that theres supposed to be one around Norton/Hampton NB, and I've skied on the one @ Rothesay Netherwood School in Rothesay. I'm just looking for weekend adventure destinations.

if your interested ing the website its

also if you know of any lost ski areas post em here

O'Dell - Fredericton

Silverwood - Fredericton

Royal Road - Fredericton

Mount Douglas (I think that's the name) - Welsford

There was another one down by St. Stephen as well.

New Denmark - Big Ski Jumping history

If I remember correctly, Royal Road and O'dell closed because Crabbe opened.

Silverwood closed because they couldn't keep snow. Too windy and not enough cash to buy snowmaking gear.

Used to be a pony tow in Truro near the park on Young St. People used to ski on Mt Ton between Truro and New Glasgow.

Cape Smokey may be a lost area this season too. They lost their general manager and operations manager, plus they have a hard time opening on a good year.

smokey in cape breton had some steeps.. there used to be a kick ass terrain park in great village too, complete with GT sno-racer mini park

Well this thread really wasn't about moncton being better, BUT Monctons a shit hole I lived there for 3 years and I hated it. My wife is from there and she hates that shithole too.

If your refering to Mr. Obrian then no he didnt, he moved out west. I know smokey used to be owned by the government but now its owned by a group out of ingonish, although due to finacial reasons i dont know if they will be opening this year. I took a trip up there two years ago, there was no park but its a pretty cool hill.

The RCS hill is Way back in the woods off one of the hiing trails. it's steep (as far as a remember), last time I was there was in 1994. It was kinda fun because there was a lot of snow that year and know one had been on it. it's no longer than the bunny hill at poley.

There was a Ski Hill in Bloomfield off the Guthrie Road which had a rope tow. A group of volunteers from Hampton ran it. Driving back from Poley I could see the one ski run in the distance. Closed early ‘70’s.

There was another ski hill on the Pickwauket Road in Hampton on the Hoyt Farm. I found the old engine for that rope tow on my hikes. Closed in the late ‘60’s.

Hammond River in Quispam had a small hill with a rope tow. They had small hand painted signs on the highway. “Ski Hammond River” Closed around ‘75.

Don’t forget about the t-bar at Rockwood Park in Saint John. Small lodge and Ski Patrol. My wife learned to ski there. Closed 70’s.

Mount Douglas in Welsford. I actually night skied there in ‘74. Soldiers were there from Gagetown doing winter training wiping out all over the place. Closed soon after.
