Losing Style

Alright, so like I fucked up both my knees at the end of Jan. last year and could hardly ski at all. I decided that I was gonna take one of my old pairs of skis and epoxy a steel plate to the bottom and get one of my friends to tow me into my BMX trails. I sucked! Considering it was mud and the skis were pretty heavy I guess I was bad, but I had completely lost like all confidence in the air and my style took a huge blow... anybody else ever happen to them???

The same kinda thing happened with rails but I'm thinking it's more that the steel slides a lot faster so I'm sticking with BMX 'till I get to ski... ;)

i blew my right knee out but i dont plan on quitting. just work out and go for it all over again. itll just take time to learn i guess

^ makes a very good point. Earlier in the summer my friend towed my around his city block on his big ass straight skis with the bindings taped to my shoes Its hard as hell to turn on pavement you just kinda slide around. But yeah Im sure i looked goofy as fuck I wouldnt put to much thought into it.

I know that dirt is different but it wasn't even like I could even think about grabbing anything besides my nuts as I came down hard...

And I have no intention of quiting, just beating the hell outa myself until I'm fairly decent again :P

it's all mental. return to your happy place.

This last ski season, what did you concentrate on to make your skiing flow? Try to remember those techniques.

One thing could be off, concentrate on all the basics.. is your stance right? are you popping?

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

yea... i tried to ski on dirt from getting towed in and i couldn't do anything except fall(and nothing in wrong with my knees) so don't worry when winter comes you'll be fine!

It's all mental man, i had a very small case of what u had for like a day after i got a cooncussion, but i just got over it pretty quik, i think once i wipped out and didnt get hurt i was fine, i think a big part of it anyways is that u were trying it on mud or whatever

yeah bro, definitely don't worry about it. sometimesw i will take a big fall, and doubt all my ability, but you just gotta go back and kleep practicing, and the old touch will come back

wait so while talking about this knee stuff...anyone blown a knee out then jumped the next year? just wondering cause im gonna do it anyway. i figured work out the legs build up both knees and muscles round it and no problem what so ever. even if they say dont i think i might at least learn rails really good

Well I blew out both knees when I overshot a table by about ten feet and landed on lip of the next jump in the series (they were pretty small and real close together)... I guess that if you ride a bike a lot or lift or something and build up the muscles that everything would be ok, anybody think otherwise??

i ride my bike all the time...im just thinking im gonna do it anyway. im just waiting for high school weight room to open so i can do it.

Lifting is probably the best way to get back into shape aside from riding your bike or even just skiing around and carving for a week or two to your knees back with the feeling...

That's what I've done in the past
