everyone's taking this sport far too seriously. Street went on ESPN and basically told Bode to grow up. she needs to pull the stick out of her ass and remember (along with most of the world) what skiing is about- enjoying yourself. i know from experience that ski racing has enormous potential to be no fun at all, which is why i no longer race. Bode loves to race and likes to have a good time. people are getting pissed at him because he said that he doesn't really care that he was DQ'd, etc, etc, and they think that displays a shitty attitude. personally, i think that attitude is exactly what young racers need to see- not an "i don't give a shit" attitude (which, despite what people are saying, ISN'T what his attitude is), but rather an "i fucked up, but that's ok because this is supposed to be FUN, so i'm not going to beat up on myself" attitude. Bode has to be one of the most misunderstood athletes of our time. when everyone else is so wrapped up in being the best, always winning, and shit like that, he's doing what he's always done- doing his best to have fun in a discipline that tends to stiffle that emotion. ski racing is too fucking serious and he's trying to change that. i think that 10 years from now most people are going to look back and forgive Bode for being an "asshole" or "arrogant" because he is doing things the way they should be done. skiing isn't supposed to make you stress out, get you pissed off, or ruin your day- it's supposed to be a great time that makes you want to come back for more. the racing world forgot that a long time ago and Bode is trying to give them a long-overdue wakeup call.
lay off- the man is right on the money.
