I need help with this assignment, it's a required 2 page essay on the following qoute...

"Ralph chose the firm strip as a path because he needed to think... He found himself understanding the wearisomeness of this life, where every path was an imporvisation and a considerable part of one's waking life was spent watching one's feet... There must be no mistake about this assembly, no chasing imaginary... This meeting must not be fun, but business."

We have to talk about the qoute's significance to the novel in terms of plot events and theme. Any help or clerification of the qoute will be appreciated.

haha i remember reading that book last year. sorry but i can't help you with the quote cause i don't understand it either

If I remeber correctly this is about when Jack starts to take over. So just revolve around the fact that a dictatorship is starting to form and how a struggle for power is becomming a problem for Ralph. I see this as an easy paper

o fuck, i hated that book. I read it this year in english and had to write a 3 page essay on the symbols of good and evil or some shit like that

Tell me if this sounds alright...

It's significant to the plot because this is start of Ralph beggining to loose control over the group to Jack, who is must more uncivilized, and Ralph try's to regain control over the group before Jack get's total control.

Talk about how Ralph decided to be bold and take the moral stance he believed in, even if it mean opposing Jack.

wow, thats sav, i remember reading that book like 6 years ago...

are all you kids really like 13?

Bobby, resorting to NS for your 'summer reading' is terrible.

Shame on you. My respect for you (which wasnt much to begin with) just went down.

Oh you lost all of my respect when you bear hugged me and threw me down in the middle of the hallway.

throw in something about tyrany and how the situation on the island reflects civilisation as a whole. if you like, the island is a small civilisation and it reflects how if a civilisation is left to its own devices, it will ultimatly be the source of its own downfall. there are so many references you can make with this book ie you can link a charismatic leader, jack, and his dictatorship of the boys, including how he essentially has them brainwashed into doing whatever he says, to adolf hitler and the nazi regime. check out google too cause there are heeps of novel/essay guides out there to help you with ideas. in saying that dont copy any of the essays on the net cause it won't sound like your work and all the marker has to do is type in a section of the essay into google and then it will show the origonal source of 'your' essay and you'll get busted for using someone elses work as your own

Quality book, I had to do essays and stuff on it too though. Basically you can't really go wrong with what's already been said

"Ralph chose the firm strip as a path because he needed to think" - firm path represents the stability of society he is used to

damn i hate this book. were reading it in english. piggy dies which means no more democracy. and so pretty much the profecy from the begingin of the book came true that ralph survived. but theres a whole shit of subliminal thoughts. something to do with decay of ideas and the intenseness of military coups

HAHAHAH in the movie its SOOOO funny wen they push the rock onto piggy lmao

it like bounces off his head

LMAO

its CLEARLY a big chunk of grey foam
