Loon Mtn. hosting 2014 Red Bull Cold Rush!!!!!

So Durtschi, Benchetler and Sage will be at Loon Mtn. NH this Friday. Supposedly, it is for an Atomic demo, but the word on the streets is that they are scouting some lines for a future Cold Rush event. Seriously. Why else would three dudes like that come to Loon preseason? To hit a ten foot jump with a 400 meter in run? I don't think so. I guess there is a possibility of some man made pillows lines constructed with scaffolding as high as 100 feet off of the base of the summit. They are up to something.........who knows??
 
atomic demo at loon, or a massive backcountry event at a mountain that can't get more than 150 inches a year.

that is quite possibly the stupidest shit ive ever heard. east coast is flatter than parris hiltion.
 
wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. Agreed that Loon might be but the east coast definitely has some awesome steeps and backcountry, MRG, Magic, Jay, Sugarloaf, Mt. Washington. Granted they might not be as good as any mountain in the west but we do have something.
 
but cold rush at silverton/retallack vs anything on the east coast?

if this post is at all serious about man-made pillows then it is no place for a comp like cold rush.
 
Cold rush is a BIG MOUNTAIN event. Therefore it needs to be hosted at a BIG MOUNTAIN. Loon is a fun place, but does not qualify as big mountain. sorry
 
obviously there is no way that an event like Cold Rush would be suitable for the East compared to silverton and retallack, but that was not the point I was trying to make. Yes it is unreasonable and probably very unlikely of Loon making "man-made pillows" for a Cold Rush event. I also really want to know where OP heard this...

if they have cold rush on the east coast i swear to god im gona start snowboarding because skiing wont be fun anymore! east coast back country is lame, ive got better hills in my backyard! WEST COAST!
 
Skiing wont be fun anymore because of a contest that takes place (even though its not) over a thousand miles from you, and in no way impacts your life?
 
loon Mountain, cannon and wildcat all have more vertical than mountains like... alta, brighton, solitude, kirkwood, abay, alpine meadows, silverton, etc. and cannon and wildcat are steep as fuck and are both over 4000ft and pretty much rise straight up from sea level. the chic chocs in canada are also very tall and steep and rise right up from sea level.

Seriously, youre prolly from cali and therefor dont know what the fuck you are talking about when it comes to east coast mountains, keep your uninformed pre conceived notions on the subject to yourself thanks

 
I grew up on the east coast but you are a retard. All those places you mentioned from the west have better free ride terrain than cannon wildcat and loon combined. I have skied all those places besides silverton.

i spent three years living at 9500ft in the middle of alta skiing 200+ days a season all over the wasatchand all over the west, i know what steep is and im quite informed thanks. Im just tired of cocky fucks like you that grew up on the west that feel like need to shit on east coast mountains and the skiers that are proud to have grown up there, even though youve never seen those mountains, you dont know those mountains or how steep and gnarly parts them can be. the white mountains obviously arent the sierras or the cascades, no shit. im not trying to say mountains in the east is better than the west when it comes to skiing because we all know theyre not. im just saying cocky misinformed west coast kids should be a little more humble and show some fucking respect. thats the end of my adderall rant back to my paper
