Loon hike and huck

jesus the 10th? is loon still closing on the 21st?

i want to go to H&H but i'm done with finals on the 6th..aghh

hey that happened to me 2 or 3 years ago at hike n huck, like 100 feet from the campton exit where i was getting off the highway..

Ha ill be there.. it sounds fun and all the mountains are closed around me soo it'l be fun skiing agian. prolly wont enter the jump part depends on how big it is but the jam sounds dope

is it only a comp, or is there also a big hike open sesh for everyone? becasue if is only a comp im not going

No, not at all. Girls don't know what skiing is!

Just kidding, of course they are. There are usually a few that compete.

by amateurs I think they're trying to say that the features being built/used are going to be big and consequential if you don't know what you're doing...Expect the jump (s) to be the rather large. Most people can slide rails/boxes but how comfortable are most people sessiong those features on a stair set. Guy or girl, it doesn't matter. If you can throw down, then you can throw down period...

i'll be there, but i'm looking forward more to the windham rail jam.. anyone know when that will be?

"Endless Winter Rail JamMay 24, 10am - 2pm
Check back in the days leading up to this event to be sure that it's a go."

any of you actually been to this thing before? i may try to go, theres nothing on there website that says may 10th. whats the scene like, any old guys like me competing?

ive been a few times...scene is basically a large jump, between 40 and 50 feet normally, lots of good skiers and riders show up, theres also 3 or 4 rails set up, last year they actually had 5 rails set up. if you go taking it seriously it wont be fun. basically everyone gets drunk, the snowboard announcer hates on pretty much every skier, some kids get worked, but its a good time. the whole competition aspect is pretty much lost, its just a good session, but the features are pretty advanced so n00bs and people worried about getting hurt or something should stay away. it does kinda turn into a snakefest on the rails, its pretty good to just go, not pay the $30 comp fee, hit the rails when the big air is going on and hit the jump while rails are going on. usually no "Old guys" i guess, depends on how old you are, mostly early 20's locals and then a bunch of teenagers.

yeah i live about 4hrs away too..in newyork. defff going to make it up i think...but how are the rails setup? compared to like the spring loaded jam..harder easier? i just want to know what im going too..haha

yea and about the girl thing.. im a girl and who cares. just go out and ride even if we dont have a category.. i dont mean to sound like GIRL POWER but seriously who cares just go out and have fun.

ohh and the windham railjam thats going to be sickk. try to get up to that too.

really big lofty jump, some hard rails, some easier ones. last year we kinda set up some fun dick around rails at the bottom while the big air was going on, its always a good time and most park skiers can do the jibs

i drove by loon today, much more snow then last year and theres a massive pile of snow for the jump, should be dope

i heard they may be running a quad? i hope theres truth to that haha..hiking is work but it will still be ill for sure!!!

we have one more spot left in the car if anyone wants to pitch in for gas and a room!

talked to my buddy & loon park groomer tom p yesterday, they WILL NOT be running a lift, they were contemplating getting a strip of snow to that triple, but its not happening. i heard earlier this morning there might be a 2 jump line, but that wasnt from a loon source so im still looking into that

it looked like they only had one table shaped as of yesterday but theres still allot more snow that isnt being used up there

haha the same thing happened to me! prom at my school is the same  day...but seriously... i was like hmmmmm dancing and having fun or riding and having fun... i deff would go with the riding. everyone looks at me like i mcrazy but whattteverrr.hahah....and yeah idk about doing te big air i think i might just do the rail jam.

Heres the INFO:

Attention all Skies and Urchins looking to hike, huck and earn a buck, Loon Mountain's annual Hike and Huck contest will be held on Saturday, May 10th.
Thanks to the snow scholarship Mother Nature awarded Loon this season, the park staff has copious amounts of snow to make some perfectly-sculpted booters for you to show off your fanciest aerial maneuvers and compete for the CASH PRIZE.

For those who experience Acrophobia, there will also be an hour-long rail session following the contest, but not before a Board-B-Q at the new Shaping Shack.

Just remember, this contest is not for the weak-hearted, and if you've been hanging out in the Burton Progression Park or Little Sister all winter, this is not the contest for you.

Registering for the contest is quite easy, and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Octagon Lodge. Be sure to please your parents extra nicely that week otherwise you'll be collecting cans and couch mining for the thirty dollar ($30) entrance fee.

For those of you under 18, you'll need to drag Mom or Pop out of bed and bring them along to sign your release forms. The contest starts at 10 a.m., so get some extra sleep.

And don't forget your water bottle because this event is going to be another hot one!
