Looks like I'll be getting to know you all a bit better...

Sorry for making you read yet ANOTHER injury thread, but I figured that some of you might get some sort of satisfaction from my pain. So, for your viewing pleasure, I present to you, rubber-arm!

Broke both the bones in my forearm, the radius and the something, sorry I'm not an MD. I fucked up a 270 onto the box my friend and I built this summer. My question is, did you ever have trouble getting over your injuries? I broke my collarbone last year teaching myself 3's, and had no problem trying new stuff once I healed, but this is different. I wasn't trying something new. I was just practicing 2sevs in the backyard. I had just landed the last like 10 perfectly, and then raped myself on the last hit and broke my arm, and it's gonna take all my will power to start throwing 2's again, I think. Anyone have tips for just manning up and getting over it?

Picture was taken friday night, about 10 minutes after it happened. My friends decided taking pictures was more important than helping me get some asprin and make a sling.

you cant assume that u are going to be a pussy when u get back out right after u have gotten injured

i tore my ACl and both sides of the meniscus and thought i would be a pussy for the rest of my skiin days

but when i came back out this winter i just felt so hungery and learned a fuck load

i did end up re-tearin my meniscus but it was worth it for what i got done this season

in the end dont worry about it dude

ull be fine mentally

yea man just dont be a puss.

haha but seriously its no biggie, i broke my tibia last year and i've learned more this year than ever. moving out west helps too

Haha, Gumby, I like it. Yeah, you're all probably right. I probably felt the same way a year ago when I broke my collarbone, but to be honest, missong some of last season made me want to try harder if anything when I got back on skis.

I destroyed my shoulder earlier on in the season, broke my humerus in half right next to the socket. I was out for 2 months, last week was my first week on my healed arm skiing and my last week of the season. I by no means was afraid of doing anything but i decided to take it easy. I just perfected everything and worked on steezing everything out. Id take it easy until your comfortable again then go for it.

dude i had the exact same break except mine was like 3 inches higher i only had a tiny layer of skin preventing a compound fracture did you fall backwards and put your hand out for support?

this picture give me really bad memories. when i was in second grade i was at beaver creek and they had an still have this sick jump line in their main park. their like 30-50 footers from what i remember?? haven't been there in a year. i kept going off the sides of the first couple ( ya i was a gaper then but hey i was like 7) and so the last one which was huge but i didn't know i decide to go for and i land sideways right on my arm and i heard the nastiest sound like a snap. i just remember all of these snowboarders coming up and asking if i was ok and being like holy shit kid. my arm looked exactly like yours only further up it was twisted. a month ago when i got cleared to ski b/c of collar bone they had a record of my injuries along with all of their x rays and my arm looked like it snapped in half. next time i get fucked up il get some pictures of my hall of shame. it seems like all i post is about my injuries since i jsut made one like 5 minutes ago about a concussion. injuries SUCK

only injury ive had has been tearing my knee open and getting stitches for 2 weeks. i was a pussy for like half a day when i got back but no prob after that

2 seasons ago I screwed my knee and was really worried about redoing t but then last season I never gave it a thought. Give you mind a bit of time and youll forget about it.

Man I almost died in december when my kidney exploded and lung collapsed (2 weeks ICU 3 emergency surgeries 3 routine surgeries). I was in the hospital wondering if I was ever going to get the balls up to put myself into the air ever again. Now I rethink it and it was a freak accident on a trick I have done hundreds of times, just like you 27 (overshot over rotated 3) So im just way stoked to get back on snow asap. You will feel the same once you get out of the initial week or so of pain im sure. no worries!

when you are traveling and trying to go throught a metal detector in an airport do you fail everytime?

This post stirred up some interesting stories.....They said I probably won't need surgery/ bolts, but they aren't sure yet. I'll post my X-ray when I get it, but since they had to reset my arm, I was too doped up on Morphine, Ketamine and Vicadine to do anything more than drool and say "blue" according to my dad.

a friend of mine already broke his arm (just like you did) twice this year

first time he got a steel plate but a little frontflip at a freeride event a month later and shit was broken again

so the surgeon decided to screw his arm with titanium plates

long story short

if they want to put some crappy steel into you tell ehm to fuck off and get something more durable

dude, there is slim chances of u getting that kind of an injury twice in ur lifetime. those are the kind of breaks where everything has to go perfectly wrong to happen, so dont be hesitant to get back at those 270s

I broke my back two years ago overshooting a jump at Northstar. After that I was a lil more hesitant when I had to guinea pig a jump. It took me about half a season to get comfortable being the first one to hit a jump again. Now it's all good and I'm even more comfortable on bigger jumps than smaller ones. Just takes time to get your shit back together. Just get your head right and realize it was a freak accident. No worries man, you'll be fine.

You know, for how much hate gets thrown around this website, most of you guys aren't too bad when something happens. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm going into the doctor's tomorow morning since I can't move/feel my fingers very much.

Haha, no I went right after it happened to get it re-set, and a temporary cast, since they can't put a real cast on until the swelling goes down. I just meant I was going back for a check up tomorow.

my right arm looks about like that, but worse'

it has been 5 months since i broke mine

the bones are 80% healed and i have effective paralysis of my forearm, which is at least supposed to be somewhat temporary

mine didn't heal correctly so i had to wear a bone growth stimulator on my arm at night for 6 months. the disfunctional healing process was somewhat connected to getting jumped by some san jose vatos just two weeks after surgery. fuckin south bay bullshit.

how do you have paralysis? some painful PT ahead to get the knots out of your forearm and get some wrist movement back. i foresee thousands of 5 and 10 pound wrist curls in your near future.

i have a blood condition which is pretty close to anemia so they waited a week for surgery, with the compartment syndrome i had a bunch of nerve damage and pretty much have no muscle.
i'm going under the knife again to have scar tissue cut out.

i have 5 pounds of grip now :/

i can still ski though

Update:.......going in tomorow for surgery, I'm getting 8 pins and two metal plates to hold everything together, plus some surgery on my nerves, since I can't move/feel my fingers very well. I'm a bit scared since my surgeon is going to be a French-Canadian though.

Kidding.
