This is an edit of a little BBQ that my friend had with friends in our film program. I would like to know what people think about it on a technical level and just generaly what your impressions are on certain effects. In other words I would like to hear what you guys think about any and evey detail... constructive criticism.

thanks everyone and as always, responses will receive karma worthy of the answers.

2 things i noticed:
1.the fire/film burn transition was a bit overused. cool, but overused2. the shots in the pool at dusk were a bit pixelated. if i could make a suggestion here, a black&white filter would work well here. gets rid of the obvious pixelation, gives the film a bit more variety, and usually looks pretty badass especially with the time lapse changes

-opening time lapse felt way too long-some of the shaky effects towards the beginning were a little much-liked the low angle burger shots-get some more creative shots of the peoples faces, they were kind of just straight on-maybe take out night shots due to graininess.. or just work the settings better for low light-had the same vibe through out it which is good

also...
-maybe too many time lapses.. a bit over used-film burn effect over used too (like science just said)
but otherwise i feel like it had decent flow

for the film burn effect, I did use it more than what I normaly would but since this is a BBQ theme I chose to use it more, to bring everything together. if you take the fact that its for a BBQ theme, is it still too much.

and about the film noise on the pool shots, I completely agree but cant realy do anything about it. What happened is that It was a last minute decision to film the day so I had no equipement especialy not lights and I filmed with a panasonic dvc 30 which is not very sensitive with low light. I wish I had some spots on the pool to expose it properly.

I don't know shit about editing ... but form an average joe stand point, the fire transition was overused ...

and dubstep for a BBQ edit makes the BBQ look like it's some kind of ultra serious business

ps: I also spotted some Bud Light lime ... which has a low win factor

burger seemed tasty though

first time lapse is too long. Shot where the lid is being lifted should be extended a few more frames, or spped it up so it gets a little higher. Too many burger shots. Drop the nite pool clips, it doesn't add anything, in fact the grainyness takes away. We would have never even known what we were missing. Otherwise the jump cuts and everything else was fine. You could go heavy on the fire transition during the cooking part, then tone it down or not use it at all elsewhere.
