Looking for an Icon resort with wifey?!?

Hey guys,

Looking for a new IKON resort to hit up with my wife. We have already been to Cotton Wood Canyon and Cali resorts. She’s really into Aspen but it’s a little too pricey? Any recommendations for me? Also I’ve been to JHole. I’m not ruling out Utah or Cali but would prefer to try experience something new.

We’re coming from east coast. Looking to spend 3 days skiing Wednesday night coming home Sunday.

Leaving from LGA would like to spend No more then $400 pp on flights and no more then $1300 on accommodations.

thanks!!

You gotta go to Eldora, me and the boys load up in my buddy Jeremy’s Bimmer and get there from Boulder in about 5 minutes. You ever been to Boulder bro? It’s fucking sick dude. We mack on chicks all over town with and then we head up to Eldora and mack on chicks there too. Ever heard the chainsmokers bro? They’re the sickest band ever, and they love Boulder.

Is your prude wife not into macking on chicks? Well you’re in luck, since Eldora has the steepest, deepest, raddest, sickest terrain found anywhere in this fucking galaxy you can ditch your lame wife in a tree well and go mack on chicks until she swims her way out of there. Or doesn’t, know what I’m sayin?

Either way playboy hit me up when you come to Mecca and I’ll set you up with some fire K ya dig? You’ll be macking all day with that fat sack of K

Taos is unique for sure. You can probably fly there right at your budget but I’m not sure what you and your wife are expecting for lodging. Like ski in ski out or what?

Ski in ski out would be amazing but not necessary. Anyone know what the Covid rules are traveling to Revelstoke BC. definitely a bucket list spot.

Lmao. Saving this as a copy pasta to fuck with my CO friends.

The town of Taos is also super cool and at least staying there used to be affordable. Downside obviously is you have to drive to the resort but bonus is you are at a lower elevation so you’ll probably feel better. The skiing is unreal, snow can be hit or miss. If you don’t mind hiking a bit then it’s just amazing. Especially if you want to see something different Taos is a great call. Huge art scene in town.

big sky is cool too but doesn’t have the originality of Taos. Oh should add you would prolly fly to Alb and drive. Normally not a bad drive

Think you can fly directly into Taos these days, used to see all sorts of ads for “Taos air” doing direct flights in a tiny death trap plane from trendy places like la or austin on Instagram

Just a heads up on Eldora… it’s a great place, but two people have died there so far this season, so patrol is all uptight and anal about stuff. Bet you could get away with more and have more fun at Toas right now.

+1 for Taos. They just got creamed, so the base is solid throughout the mountain.

Fly into Albuquerque and rent a car.

On your way in, grab a romantic dinner at a winery in Santa Fe.

Stay in a lovely airbnb Casita or earth ship.

Eat green chile!

Really, a top notch romantic ski getaway for couples.

Revelstoke is aight, but it's a BITCH to get to. Be ready to spend 7 hours white knuckling the highway. And it's very expensive to stay and eat and everything's expensive. Not at all romantic either.

If you wanna go to Canada, you'd logistically have an easier and less expensive time at Sunshine Village. Besides, I found the terrain to be way more hardcore than Revelstoke.

It's not super romantic either though. Mostly overrun with 20 year old Australian kids partying their asses off. They call them "Jafas" (Just another fucking Australian) kinda like the same way we use the term "Jerry".

there def are a lot of low life aussie cunts here in western canada.

but ski big 3 is a must!!!!!!!!

you can skip norquay, but def go to sunshine and lake louise.

you will not regret it

Banff is well within the budget for you.

thats flights, rental car and hotel all together.

Yes! How could I forget to mention Lake Louise! The terrain there is gnarly as it gets.

Hey, curious if you've ever run into my friend in Banff? Raw vegan rastafarian dude Daniel that lives downtown and fucking rips on snowskate?

I’ve never been to Mammoth another bucket list resort. How’s the surrounding village

Its a cool village/town. Bigger and more spread out not just a set of shops by the lift that were built to look like a postcard.

Its sunny and not crazy cold. Weekdays are quiet weekends bump.

Taos is a town 20 mins away from the resort think driving back to SLC from Alta. Mammoth everything is right there.

If ur not staying in a resort accommodation then your options are pretty wide. You could easily get a hotel for under $100 a night at most places on the Ikon pass list. Stay in Seattle and ski those places. Fly to Portland, drive to bend and ski bachelor. Fly direct to steamboat and stay in any hotel in town; they're all minutes from the resort. Obligatory fly to Denver and then drive to any number of resort allowing ikon passes. Slc is obvious as well and a lot of Airbnbs there have really nice inlaw rentals for around $100-150/night. Fly into San fran, or Sacramento, or reno and ski Tahoe. The hotels are cheap on the Nevada side of Tahoe.

Airbnb is creeping up on pricing so don't be afraid to check priceline for express deals on hotels.

Thanks everyone my wife got us a free dope place to stay in Revelstoke but after reading your comments I realized how far a drive it is from airport. Back to the drawing board.

the drive isn’t bad if weather is good. But they can close the trans can because of avys in between Alberta and BC. Doesn’t happen often tho.

So if you go to Banff you don’t have to mess around with that.

I think 1 day at sunshine is enough to really explore the place. They’ve got a really funky lift set up. Some are heated chairs too cause it gets cold.

Two days at lake is no where near enough to explore everything. They just put in a new lift to access west bowl. Only downside is that it’s kind of far from Banff. 40 min on a good day

the town itself is mostly restaurants and some ski shops. I highly recommend grizzly house fondue. Women love cheesy shit. Very pedestrian friendly for walking around and window shopping. I’d say it’s just a little smaller than Whistlers village.

the hot springs are a big warm pool. With a view onto the surrounding mountains.

in terms of COVID, I think you need to be fully vaccinated and need a negative test result within 24hrs of your arrival. But things are changing fast.

Thanks. Only have from Wednesday to Sunday so I think BC is out of the question. Looking at Aspen, Taos, Mammoth and maybe a few others
