Looking for advice

Hey. I've heard this is the place to be for newschool skiing. Anyway, the reason I am here is I've been skiing for quite some time, and I'm looking to pick up a pair of twintips. I have been doing more and more park lately, which is obviously impractical on a pair of regular downhill skis. My question is, i've been looking around at last year's models (obviously much cheaper than this year's), and I'm totally undecided as to what skis I should get. I'm looking for a park oriented ski with all-mountain versatility... and what seems to be most readily available are Line's Chronic and K2's PE. I've also been looking at some 4FRNT flavours, but they aren't as readily available to me. Any suggestions? I'm totally open to anything completely different as well, so long as last year's is still available.

last years PEs are a solid ski to learn on. I know lots of people who chose them as their first twins and weren't disappointed. They're forgiving but wont limit you to the park, i'm sure theres some used pairs floating around here or online that you could pick up for a good price. And something that always helps when asking for advice on equipment.is putting your height, weight and ability so we can recommend something with a flex/length that fits you.

i was in the same boat but i came more from racing. i went on backcountry.com and ordered the K2 08 Silencers for $179. Good ski and great deal id deff check out the site

are you going to be using them just for park, or are you goin to cruise the rest of the mnt on them too?

" I'm looking for a park oriented ski with all-mountain versatility"

haha, see told you you would be more welcomed here.

but ya public enemy is a pretty sick ski, or just keep your eye on teh buy sell trade section

i would also say the PE. i rode the missdemeanor which is the womans version of that for my first ski and i was happy with it. once i started getting better i found them to be a bit heavy and stiff but theyre great for learning.

i wouldnt get public enemys. i dont really like them there heavy, idk and just in general i didnt find them fun to ride. silencers? they fall apart but i guess there fun while they last. never riden them tho. personally if it was me i would go for the chronics. or maybee even like the armada arv or anthems. those are all alot better quality skis. and i find them alot funner to ride/learn on. they may cost you a little more but in the long run you will be glad you did. thats just my 2 cents

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 130 (Yeah, I'm a featherweight...)

Ability: I'd say I have a reasonable degree of skill at skiing in general.

As for the guy who recommended the Invaders and Anthems... aren't those entirely park skis though? The Anthem being fully symmetrical and whatnot... that being said though, does a fully symmetrical ski absolutely have to be mounted dead centre?

im currently riding the 07 K2 public enemies and there bomb

i wanted the same result - a ski that i can ride downhill and park

the +2 cm mount is what i ride with it to make it the perfect balance of park/downhill

i would say PE for sure. such a good starter ski. or kung fujas if you want something better in pow

Do you do any off-piste or powder skiing?

If you do I would recomend rossi s5's or k2 kung fujas or something a little fatter to give a better ride in more conditions but will still perform really well in the park.

I live in the east. No pow for me, which is why I've basically ruled out anything fat. From the look of it the chronic is way cheaper on evo than the PE, so that would make the decision much easier.

One last question, when ordering from evo to Canada, will they nail me on brokerage and customs for half my weight in gold?

Chronics seem like a good choice, but also check out the 08 blends. those seem like what your lookin' for... a BLEND of park and all mountain!

Alright. Chronics are the cheapest on evo, and also come in my size, which is obviously an important factor. One last question, The Chronic's dims are 111-85-108. Will I be able to go for like a +2 mount on that or will I have to go closer to the center? Also, if the latter is the case, will that greatly affect my performance on regular trails?
