Looking for a video camera

im looking for a video camera for filming next year. i dont need something super high quality but good enough to film and then edit. what do you guys suggest. my price range is under $600 american

welp ive got a sony dcr trv xyz pbs..shit, 30 maybe? theres a bad one, a good one, and the same good one with a better still camera. it was $500 3 years ago, i like it. i dont know if they make it anymore. i like it though, sonys are nice. its really small, i can put it in a big pocket, so its easier to videotape up girls skirts.

hey man i am trying to sell my samsung hi-8 camcorder. it's not the best, but it is definitely not bad at all. i used it probably three times and then it sat on my shelf for a year. i pull it back out to use it again and all of the sudden it won't play back the videos i have. i have no idea why since i didn't do anything. it might just need to be cleaned for all i know. anyways, if you are interested i could send you some pictures of all the stuff that comes with it, and i would let it go for under $200.pretty good since the 8 hour battery cost me $70 all by itself.

 
Ive done some reaseacrch, and the best cam that you can get for 600 or less is a panasonic pv gs65. Its a 3 chip, and has decent features and is good in low light. Also, its 3 chip so the picture is really nice, or so ive been lead to believe. I dont own one yet but im gonna buy one most likly.

 
Nowadays just because a camera has 3ccd's doesn't mean it's good. They basically use the whole 3ccd term as a marketing technique, though it does have 3 chips they are very much smaller than the well known 3 chip cameras. So in some cases you would be alot better off going with a good single chip camera for the same price.

it depends on what you prefer...you can get good videos from a digital photo camera that has also video function.its small and easy to transport while youre skiing...otherwise, if you prefer to ignore this and search for the better filming quality then i cant give you much advice...

 
I reasearched using primarily camcorderinfo.com. The picture is supposed to be very good; at about the same level as top of the line sigle chips. however, if you look at it forgetting about all the chip stuff, its still one of the best cams in the 600$ range.
