Looking for a technical backpack for school

Well my old backpack is starting to crap out on me and I would like to buy a new bag. The thing is I dont just want a jansport for school I want to get a higher end backpack that I could also use as a daypack if needed, and of course so I look cool with a bunch of straps hanging off while walking on the quad

I was thinking maybe the north face base camp hot shot-

Its the regular hot shot but made with the awesome tnf duffle bag material, kinda a boring backpack, but the material is a huge +

or maybe this guy with a ski carry

Id like a patagonia bag but there arent many cool packs by them, theres also a lot of smaller companies I would be interested in but dont know of, I always see sick packs when Im in the park system

This is a pretty small pack though, I can only really use it during finals when I don't have to carry around as much stuff. However, I use binders to organize my stuff so they are a bit more bulky.

I use an older Camelbak "Trail Blazer" and it works pretty well. Don't know what the current equivalent is though

just a note, my dad's TNF ski pack has extremely stiff zippers, as in they are hard to use without gloves on. I doubt all TNF paks are like that, but you might want to try before you buy.

Check out Mystery Ranch packs...they're ski/snowboard packs that are made out of Montana by skiers....dope fucking packs...

not necessarily in this color, but this pack is pretty fucking sick:

a couple of my friends have this and it seems like a pretty good school pack- can hold a laptop and a couple of textbooks. i have a dakine pro ii that is pretty good. if im carrying a lot of books (high school) i might have to hold a textbook myself, but has a lot of space for such a thin profile. the great thing about it is its thin profile. it doesn't bear down on your back/shoulders. would definitely recomend it.makes heavy loads feel much lighter on your back. also use it for skiing and traveling. haven't had a single gripe about it

I'd get this. I have something pretty similar, the North Face Double Shot, and it's great for school. It holds a laptop and has been very durable so far.

I would not get that its way too small for all my school stuff and the ski carry is terrible plus all my zipper puls fell of in like a week

This bag is friggin indestructible and very multi purpose. Can be used as a back pack. Water resistant. I'm getting one soon. Ain't cheap for the special edition though. But looks real slick. Will be handy.

There's a reason TNF has been making this bag for decades

Check out deuter and millet. Both really cool companies that make great- and cool looking- packs of all kinds of sizes. Also Arc'teryx but they're expensive.

I've had the super huge version of this for about 12 years and it still looks brand new. The thing is indestructible and fits dead hookers inside easily.

mystery ranch makes very high qualtity gear. I had this for the last three years for work. Works very well. Stands up o abuse. Only thing is that they are super spendy

Dakine packs have a lifetime warranty, which will essentially get you 2-3 backpacks out of one purchase.

Oakley sno mad 20. perfect pack at a good price. such a nice contour fit, best backpack ive ever owned , hands down. i also have the Oakley icon pack from like 5 yrs ago and its holding up like new... so i would check out some Oakley packs on sale, well worth the look man .

I've been looking for a well made, water-proof, aesthetically pleasing, laptop sleeve having backpack for awhile now and I cannot find such a bag for under $200. :(

Seriously, you get what you pay for.

If you want something cheap, hit up Marshall's or Geartrade or something and pick up whatever looks cool and has your pockets for cheap.

This what I have been using since I was in 7th grade. I'm going into my sophomore year of high school and this bag is so strong for what I need. Also, this bag comes with a lifetime warranty, so if this bag breaks on you, then you're covered.

TNF bags are pretty shitty quality for backpacks of that price. Osprey takes a huge shit on all their designs/quality. Mystery Ranch is also very nice as already stated.

not to threadjack but what's your guys opinion on ~20L packs vs ~28L packs? Mostly used for inbounds, but eventually would like to get into skinning/touring a bit. Is something around 28L pretty much necessary for day tours? Would a pack for each be beneficial? I just can't stand having a huge pack when I don't need it

ive got an original oakley icon backpack that ive had for atleast 12-13 years.

still going strong without a single problem and that things been through hell and back.

Well it depends, I have used even my 11L Dakine even on big BC days if the weather isn't going to be bad. That said, if the weather is going to be hairy I usually go with my Osprey Switch 36 as if has a little more room, you can separate wet gear from dry stuff, more pockets and a top stretch compartment that keeps my helmet from filling with snow. For fkn expedition style shit I have a gigantic arcteryx pack that I'm pretty sure I could jam my couch into.

It really all depends on how much shit you're trying to bring with you, but for one pack to handle all your needs yeah a 28-30ish pack will give you enough space to take a bunch of stuff but not big enough to be really floppy if it's not full.

Everyone needs ABS airbag technology in their school packs

[/img]http://www.tuvie.com/wp-content/uploads/north-face-patrol-24-abs-avalanche-airbag-pack1.jpg[/img]

then when shit gets boring, you just pull the cord, the bags pop out the side and knock your neighbors desk over.

they get concussions and start wandering around the classroom as blood starts to fill there brain cavity.

your teachers gonna be pissed because you spilled your coffee when you pulled the tag.

that bitch who always sits in the front is gonna start complaining about distractions in the classroom.

your teacher calls an ambulance, you look so official with your pack the paramedics accept you into their clan.

quit school to become a paramedic full time.

654283.jpegI just got this (TNF Router) for school because its basically the only North Face that holds a 17 inch laptop. Pretty big but i like it

I just really like having two backpacks. my good backpack is always getting sand and dirt and shit in it which gets my school stuff all dirty. It also sucks having to empty out my school stuff to use it. also the shape of those packs is not very nice for carrying lots of books because they don't have flat bottoms so sometimes your books will get fucked up.

two decent packs made for their own specific purposes are better than one expensive pack that kinda tries to compromise.

I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to walk around campus with the bags inflated. No self control. Hahaha.

Also, I use a dakine heli for almost everything. Backcountry, hikes and school.

Shits ugly as fuck, i hope i never see someone with one, just might have to smack them a few times to knock some sense into them. That's some stupid fuckin hipster shit, i do not approve.
