i am looking for a good close to resort junior college. gotta have nice parks. dont give a fuck about the college. i didnt do well in high school. to focused on mobbin parks and sleezin bops. thnks newschooler;) hope u dont have hard feelings

Cerro Coso Community College... Tis in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Super cheap, decent courses, tons of online classes and you get a $400 season pass. They also have student housing. And the entire town has free transportation.

At first I thought this thread was a request for a female in her junior her of college that skis...

I have nothing to contribute otherwise.

nope, my bro went there for 2 years got a junior degree in art, then went to CU and finised and majored in econimcs

no...you dont understand, this kid lives in a reallllly small mountain town in CA and his home mountain (Dodge Ridge) could be lapped 25 times in a half-day where the park is built by a bunch of am's.

why waste money on a community or junior college if you're just going to waste away your time?

move to a better location, find a decent job, cheap living area, and ski as much as you want.

my advice: mammoth or tahoe

good luck shawn

if you're not interested in school, and only in skiing, then don't go to school.I'm $11g in debt because I went to school so I could ski.

Absolutely. And the fact that I can support myself and still have more fun without having a college degree and massive amounts of useless debt. Lifty for life.

Are you fucking kidding me?It's more than possible to have some sort of life while your in college and still have time to ski, it's all about learning how to manage your time. It's been done by several people, and saying fuck it because you want to ski and think 11g's isn't worth it, and you just want to live in the moment is the worst idea you can make. Not having a degree in this day and age lands gets you a minimum wage paying job, if you are lucky enough to find one amongst all the job shortages. By getting some sort of degree you have more opportunities in life that will allow you to fund skiing, be able to have fun, and raise a family (although with your attitude I'd probably suggest removing yourself from the gene pool). You have a much better chance at landing a decent job with benefits and a proper pay (and you'll be able to pay back your debt). Skiing's fucking expensive by the way, it's not something you are going to be able to do care free for the rest of your life and get away with. And what happens when you can't ski anymore? Or you blow your ACL and have to spend money on hospital bills. You'll be way more that 11 g's in debt without proper healthcare from an employer, and not being able to work because you can't walk for several weeks. No skiing for 9 months, your already paycheck to paycheck lifestyle is completely fucked up, and you'll be in one bad place.
Is that where you want to be down the road?

excuse me? don't shit on my lifestyle just because its not what you chose to do. it wasn't a matter of managing my time, or saying fuck it. I honestly went to college because I pressured to by the people I was living with my senior year. had I been living at home with my parents, I probably would have done the right thing (for me) and taken a year off. I don't want to be in school right now because I don't know what I want to do with my life. its as simple as that. when I figure out where the fuck I'm going and what I'm doing, I'll deal with it.
congratulations, Harvard, for knowing what you want.

meh... .im 50k in debt... but at least I have a degree. The Bachelors is the new highschool diploma. Or havent you heard.
You could have just enrolled in a cc and taken entirely random classes until you found one you liked.
I have a lot of friends that did that. You dont need to go to college knowing what you want to do. You can take all your GE's and figure it out over those 2 years and then do what you want.
This kid probably has that in mind. He really wants to just ski for 2 years but get GE's out of the way and figure out what he really wants to do. Nothing wrong there.
I went to college and realized I wanted to work in the ski industry.. who knew. But I'm glad I did; I haven't seen a job in the last 2 years that didn't require a degree. And most just require any degree.

I'm glad that's worked for you, but working towards some undefined goal isn't my steeze. you guys can shit on my choice all you want, but I'm really okay with my life. there's nothing wrong with taking some time off to figure out what you want to do. I appreciate the lectures and all, its really endearing, but believe me I've heard it.

College didn't beat the ignorance out of you did it? So I dont have a degree and I bet I make just as much money if not more money then you do. I make 28 bucks an hour slapping paint on a wall. Now yes I realize im not on a salary but I make quite enough to pay my car loan, cell phone, apartment, health insurance, and whatever else that comes my way and be perfectly happy. I have many friends that graduated from college and now are stuck in massive amounts of debt with no job and no outlook of a job in the field that they graduated in. The economy these days is absolute shit and if you think your going to get your diploma and be handed a six figure job then your living in a dream. Skiing is expensive your absolutely right but that's why some people learn to manage there money and possibly work at a resort where you get a pass for free and discounts at the retail shop. This is the way I manage to get by and I can say Ive never been happier in my entire life and I didn't need a degree for an ego boost. So yes I guess this is where I want to be down the road.

i love you jamie

but seriously go to college. it is worth it, with a little bit of work you can easily have time to ski

Well Its happening here in Nevada. I'm 14 and i lost my job at mcdonlads to a mexican.

Nevada is right next to mexico of course your not gonna keep your job when there's more illegals there then there are actual citizens and your 14 with no work experience.

You lost your job because you're 14..

Not because some illegal person came and took your job... (McDonalds has a pretty legit background check for all employees)

Thats close to mexico...you think mexicans cant get 200 miles? Theyre infested in Salt Lake City and thats much farther. Nice try though.

Yeah, but grammatically speaking, saying 'right next to mexico' is claiming that it basically borders it...
which is false no matter how you look at it.

i learn circles each year here in college...they're basically jut another zero to my pay-grade once i graduate. beeeeeeeeeiiiiitttttchhhhhhhh

Yea isnt that wonderful the "American Dream". Go ahead buy a house in suburbia and work 9 to 5 sitting behind your desk waiting for the weekend. Ill live my life happily with out the false sense of worth because "I went to college and make alot of money" You guys are the worker ants of the colony. All mindless drones going about there day doing the same thing everyone else is doing because thats what we are told were supposed to do growing up. HIGH FIVE to everyone going to college!! I wish I could be as smart, educated, and extraordinarily cool as you guys but working "minimum wage" jobs makes me retarded and a social reject because my parents couldnt afford to give me a free pass through college. Im going to end this with a quote just because I can.

“Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.”

-Ernest Hemingway
