Looking for a pair of headphones

Looking for a pair of over the head headphones. No Beats by Dre. Trying to stay under $100. Would prefer that they cancel out surrounding sounds. Any help would be great.
 
i always end up buying the cheapest pair from rite aid....always seem to step on them or slam them in the car door.

Would be a good choice indeed. However they are open back. So that just means you can't use them on a plane, on a bus, in the library etc. But the sound they produce is very very good for the price. Plus the base will just rape a most anything because of the open back operation.
 
I just got some 50/50s for christmas and they slay dubstep. only 50 bucks too. The only grip i have and you probly to is they can break without seeming cause. like the jack or one of the earbuds just goes out. but if you take care of em they will last a good 2 years .

I haven't spent a ton of time on them yet, obviously, but first impressions are really good. I will be using them for Dj Monitoring and a little studio monitoring as well. It has a mono/stereo switch on one of the earphones which is nice so you can run it mono for 1 ear monitoring. The bass is a tad weak compared to the high end, but it doesn't bother me at all. Blocks out outside noise quite well and doesn't leak out much at all.

Only small complaint is about comfort. There is a tad less padding on the head band than I would like, but still plenty comfortable for hours of use.

They are $86 on Amazon down from $150 so that is a pretty good deal. Anyway, hope that helps!

As mentioned above, grado sounds absolutely incredible, however, I don't like the open ear design for every day use.

Cheap, cancel most oustide noises and are mad comfy.

They suck, you probably think they are great because you have no idea what nice headphones sound like, or you are partially deaf, or you are just a trendy retard.

If you didn't know about twin tips you'd still be on 210 cm straight skis with a 55mm waist, and you'd love them because you had no idea how much better it can get. And how the fuck can you say a product is great and then say they break easily and will last 2 years. Two years for headphones is not good, they should last way longer than that.

Damn, kids these days have no concept of quality

As mentioned before, they are not noise cancelling. However the ridiculous sounds quality/price point makes up for that.
 
I got a pair of shure SRH440 for christmas and holy fuck.... my brain has been melting all day. These are a huge upgrade from the audio technica STH-ProM5
the sound is literally indescribable, if you think Skull candy is good sound you possibly need a kick in the teeth
 
I use some skullcandy icon's, I know they aren't the greatest, but they're just for at home when listening to rap or indie, when I want big-bass songs and dubstep and electronic stuff, I play it through my speakers. The only reason I have them is because I got them for free when I bought some shirts from a local boardshop.
I wish I had the cash to drop $100 on headphones, one day...most I've spent is about $70 on some, and I broke them in about two weeks, so I'm hesitant to buy expensive ones now haha.
 
i like wesc oboes. they fit tight on your head, they have great sound quality and they look sick. their not noise cancelling but they block out most noise like any pair of headphones. i personally don't like noisecancelling cause it throws of my senses and it feels wierd when i try to walk and stuff
 
i've gotten my past few pairs of headphones at TJ maxx. they have great buds for like, 6 dollars. they have skullcandys for really cheap as well, i just can't think of how cheap they are off the top of my head. but anyway, if you want to get good, cheap headphones, go there

look at their selection. all they do is audio shit. they don't make keyboards and dishwashers in their spare time.
They have literally dozen's of choices, pretty much to your personal fit. It is a shame there are not more authorized Sennheiser dealers that carry a large selection of their products for people to try/see.

 
Just like to point out that those companies you say that make keyboards and dishwashers in their spare time actually have completely separate divisions that have nothing to do with each other to focus on that. The motorcycle division of Yamaha isn't working on making bass drums. The only thing they have in common is the name printed on them
 
Never used Klipsch headphones but I have a $2500 Klipsch 5.1 surround system and WOW, amazing stuff, and to boot my system is one of their cheap-o systems. Their high end stuff is true audiophile quality stuff.
 
i have a pair of chrome skullcandy full metal jackets new in box id sell, theyre 70 new i think id sell for 50
 
Grado sr60i is the way to go, as many others have said. i dont really care if they are open air and they're a little louder than others, they have amazing sound.

my 2nd choice would be, although i hate the company, would be skullcandy skullcrushers. the bass on them is ricky d
 
i basically wandered into this thread to say not skullcandy.
i ride with icons, however, and go through about 2 pairs a month. if i ever had to pay for a pair i would be so angry. i dont understand how you kids can go out there and buy skullcandy and claim they're amazing. the sounds quality is equivalant to someone yelling througha cement wall, the durability is comparable to glass, and the price is so inflated for the product you get. i wish i was smart enough to start a trendy company.
 
I have an amazing pair of shure SRH440 headphones... They're awesome, cost $100 and you can swap out the cable if it breaks so you can keep using the headphones.

If you want a really nice pair of headphones, go into the DJ or pro audio section in a music store and ask them what they'd recommend in your price range. Easy way to get quality without having to know too much.

Definetly grado. got the sr60's for christmas, and they are by far the bast headphone in that price range. skullcandys are bullshit, same with wesc
