Looking for a new park ski...

First of all, let me say that i have searched the search bar many times but havnt found exactly what im looking for. Im will try to give you all the information that you need, but if i forget something let me know.

Im looking to but a new park ski but im having trouble deciding which ski would be right for me. Im about 5'8" 150 lbs and ski what i would consider, moderatly aggresive. Heres the breakdown on what type of skiing i want the ski to do.

70% Park: Keep in mind that i live in the inland northwest so its not usually extreemly icy...but as you know, the park has its icy days everywhere you go. Probably about 45% Medium Sized jumps (about 40ft) with bigger kickers thrown in there now and then, 35% Rails, and 20% Pipe. I will be practicing as well as competing in slopestyle, pipe, and railjams on these skis.

15%Groomers: Everyonce in a while you just need to go rip up a groomer. I want this ski to beable to carve a groomer decently at high and low speeds.

15%Freeride: This factor is not as important for me because i also have a pair of Karmas that i will use when im not planiing on being in the park all day, but just as with groomers, i might get bored of the park and take a few laps up to the top and want to beable to have at least semi decent runs with these...not in deep powder obviously but just steep, fast lines.

I like a stiffer ski usually, not some noodle of a ski. Im thinking probably around the 170 cm range. If you recomend a ski, please but some reason behind your opinion, not just "get Ski x" Thanks for reading all the way through this. Any recomendations will be appreciated.

id look into the AR6, Wall, and addict/addict pro, chronic

as for size if u plan to centre mount i would grab a 180 if u want to mount a littile further back get something in the 175 range...170 is pushin it on the short side

Armada Ar6. They are good for everything, not noodles, light, park oriented.

I think they come in a 169 or 176. Choose whichever size you like.

They seem about right for you.

Ya i was actually thinking probably more about 175 after i posted that. So, ive thought about the addict pro alot...but im not convinced on the 100% symetrical yet as well as skiing the entire mtn with it...how will the symetrical ski affect that?

carving is fine, but steeps you apparently feel the tail a lot. But don't center mount a different ski if you want to ski the rest of the hill in control.

not a pipe cleaner if hes going to be doing rails ruins the point of the racebase slows you down because of the wear of the base

id say ar6 in a 171 or 176...maybe 181 if your willing

its a nice all around ski that is mostly park designed

cool thanks guys...so far it kinda seems like ar6 is the popular ski? What about T.Ms or Ghettos, and if anyone has had any time on the J.o Pro, whats that like?

i would consider selling you my AR6s 176 prime condition for the right price,,, or at least enough to buy some anthems? haha

Line Anthem in 178. They are center mount so they won't be too long for you. They do well in ice and chunky stuff and they are stiffer than the Invader which is what you are looking for.

Alright so im kinda following up on this thread again...i think i am down to a few skis...AR6, Pipecleaners, and Rossi Ghettos.

I was under the impression that the ar6 and pipecleaners had the same core, but i talked to a friend and ski shop owner who i trust and he told me that the pipecleaner has the THALL core just without the butter zones. He said for stiffness, it goes AR6 stiffest, Pipecleaner in the middle, and thalls softest. is this correct as far as you know?

The main reason i am considering the Ghtos is because i can get them for about 350 new. Can someone give me some pros and cons and compare and contrast of the GHTO vs the Pipecleaners and AR6's?

i dont know to much about them but i just bought the ghettos. they have a weight reduction system that is prertty good. there not stiff but not soft, kinda in the middle.

scratch ghettos in a 174. they have a stiffer flex, and can rip anywhere on the mountaing at -2 from dead center or so. it just so happens that a i have some brand new in plastic ghettos in a 174 for 400 bones shipped. seriously, i'm not just saying this because i want to get rid of 'em, but they seriously cater to your needs. i used the fs wrs last year and i loved them, doing pretty much exactly what you described. i'm your size, too. but seriously, they're awesome skis for what you want. also check out a 176 ar6, chronic wides maybe, ar6's, anthems... there are lots of options. maybe if you have access to a good freestyle shop, go and flex some skis. it might give you a better idea of what you might want.

i would have to say to check out the JO Pros.  i played with a pair in a shop, and they were the lightest skis i have ever held...i want a pair so bad, but im broke.

sorry i keep bumbin this back up to the top but im still stuck between the pipecleaner, ghetto, and ar6. Any other thoughts?

From what i here the Pipecleaner is the stiffest, followed by the ar6, and then the T-halls. If i were you i would get the ar6's. The Pipecleaner's are unbelievably stiff and the edges fall apart on rails, while the rossi's may be cheap, but all they really have on the FS's of the past are the WRS system. So i would get the new ar6's. They're great. They are stiffer than the rossi's, but not ridiculously stiff like the PC's. If i were competing i would get the ar6's in a 171, but you might want to look at the 176's or 181's. Remeber that armada is great when it comes to replacing damaged skis. Rossignal doesn't do that either. Play it safe to.

okay, if money isnt an issue

personolly i would get the ar6 or pipecleaner

however you can NOT ever to rails on the pipecleaners, and the dimensions are the same on both and the ar6 is somewhat stifer (i was shocked when i flexed both the other day)

also try going to your local shop and see what they have (scratch ghetto's, salomon thrusters/spks/dumonts ar even some other brands)

um, I'm pretty sure you can go on rails with pipecleaners, and they might even have the same edges. It's just that you can kinda ruin the expensive racing base of the pipecleaners on rails.

For the pipecleaners, I'm pretty sure the warranty for the first limited editions was void if there was any use on rails. But for the 07/08s, they've beefed up the edges so there's nothing saying you can't do rails, it's just pointless when you have a slick race base.

regarding the scratches, that's completely untrue. they're crazy light, yes. difference from past fs: rossicap, the tip/tail rocker points, carbon band down the middle, and overall stiffer flex.

and rossi does a REALLY good job with warrenties most of the time...
