Looking for a hoodie/light jacket to wear in the winter

I guess I'm looking for a sweatshirt that's warm enough to wear in the dead of winter, won't get soaked in a snow storm, but I don't necessarily want a full jacket. I don't care at all about the design, plain colors are fine by me. Basically just looking for a jacket that's light like a hoodie but is still warm and waterproof.
Suggestions?

any shell. its waterproof, its functional (unlike a hoody).

if you're looking for a shell, the Orage xavier shell jacket would do you well. It comes in pretty cool colorways, and has zip-off sleeves as well in case it's super warm out. Needless to say, it's waterproof and well made like all other Orage products.

I guess I should have mentioned I don't really want to spend more than $50, and the Xavier is $280.

that doesnt exist. you cannot get something thats reasonably waterproof and technical for 50 bucks.
