Looking for a decent, fluid head tripod. Any ideas?

Just look through threads there are so many threads with this exact same subject. If you want an inexpensive fluid tripod the least expensive one that's even worth getting is the manfrotto 701 with the legs kit..

That's the minimum requirement for smooth panning, hdslr setups aren't just the body and a kit lens with a wal mart tripod. You needed to be prepared to spend $1000 minimum to make your setup worthit. Just wait till you can get the manfrotto

I had this head back a few months ago. http://www.linkdelight.com/index.ph..._details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=2124

Only reason I got rid of it was because of the quick release mechanism was shit. You couldn't change batteries without taking the plate off. I know I am going to get hated on for this, but IMO this head is overall better then the Manfrotto 701. I have used them both for many shoots. I have never used the Weifeng 717 on the hill though. It seems to be much sturdier. It is a bit stiffer, but for me, thats a good thing. The arm on it can be extended to a long length. I just overall liked it more. Theres a kit on amazon where you can get it with legs. The legs are terrible, but could get by on a budget. Its around $130 for the head and legs. If you can save up some more money, I would recommend buying the 717 head, then buying Manfrotto 055XB legs, or even 190 legs. Its just the legs with the Weifeng 717 aren't good at all.

I would say the 701 with a bowl is pretty much the minimum, but I have heard good things about how for the price, the weifeng 717 may be a little better. for your budget, this is probably the best you can get unless you find a legit deal on a used one

He wasn't referring to the tripod being a $1000 he was saying your whole kit to be somewhat decent and produce good footage should be $1000. Like lenses, bodies, batteries, sd cards, tripods, etc... Should come out to a total of $1000 or more.

Ohh thanks for clearing that up. Well right now my set up is at almost $900 and all I have is a T3i with kit lens, 2 16gb mem cards, a camera handle, and cases.

To improve my set up I'm looking at all of this.
