touring you’re literally carrying weight up hill so of course they’re going to try and shave as much weight as possible which is irrelevant to your argument about attacks. They aren’t touring bindings.
freestyle skis use both light and heavier cores depending on the build and manufacturer and design. The Wildcat 101 is a freestyle oriented ski and they didn’t shave any weight.
yes manufactures do spend money saving weight in some products. They also spend the same money on making sure items heavier. Attack 16/17 weigh more than 14’s. Every manufacturers top binding weight more than their cheaper Lower variants.

Missed the part where I said normal skis? Touring skis are in a different class. In park skis weight and thickness of core affects the swingweight because tips of the skis are far from the axis of rotation. Whereas bindings are close to the axis which where the difference in weight and shape doesn't have as strong affect. If weight would matter in carving they wouldn't use heavy ass bindings in slalom.
